Cognition Interpretation: Managing Change Processes and Knowledge Resources
Cognition
Interpretation

Work Task 1
Tacit knowledge hard to explain with tools => difficult transfer tacit than explicit knowledge
Sharing cognitive categories => better mutual understanding and reduce some ambiguity
GOMS cognitive model are Goals, Operators, Methods, and Selection Rules.
GOMS assumes that routine cognitive skills can be described as a serial sequence
of cognitive operations and motor activities.
Predict how users will interact is a useful tool for the system designer in order to
success in the IS implementation & design
Ex: processes of cognitive modeling and representation of human expertise for developing ontology
and knowledge-base of expert systems
fMRI imaging is tightly related with cognitive behaviours => understand and predict the working of the brain
Computer scientists have to analyze and correct (with different packages and algorithms) the outcome of
several stages of data => manage the knowledge
Uses of the web today seeking informations with search engines => low grade of precision in information
retrieval
Vision of a web where the meaning of information played a far more important role than today =>
interpreting sentences and extracting useful information for users
Hermeneutics can also be used in design and implementation of information systems because is based on
people’s interpretations
So in research the advantage of this approach is the possibility to draw an organization's complexity, and the
researchers' role is to recognize what people understand or misunderstand
