 Full time criminal investigator responsible for preliminary investigation of criminal cases in preparation for
arraignment.
 Consulted with arresting officer to gain understanding and insight on circumstances leading to the arrest of
defendants.
 Interviewed eyewitnesses and discussed his or her observations during the occurrence of the crime to
corroborate or discredit the judgment of the arresting officer.
 Interviewed crime victims to gain awareness of any pertinent information regarding his or her relationship
to the defendant, the extent of his or her injury, or any other information that was disregarded by the
arresting officer in an effort to build a more concrete case against the defendant, and to eliminate the
possibility of arrests based on officer bias.
 Determined appropriate criminal charges and bail for offenses investigated
 Furnished crime victims with orders of protection when necessary.
 Ensured the timeliness of criminal investigations in accordance with the constitutional rights of the
defendants.
 Responsible for defendants with arrest warrants in other counties, ensuring that following his or her
arraignment in Queens County, he or she was apprehended by officials from the county in which an open
arrest warrant existed for said defendant.
