Syllabus

Course Description:
This course traces the history of the United States from the arrival of the first Americans through
Present day. Students will address a comprehensive array of social, political, and economic
issues, events, and themes related to United States History.

Course Requirements:
None.

Course Objectives:
● To promote an understanding of the historical processes that shaped America.
● Analyze the nature of territorial and population growth and the impact of this growth in
the nation.
● Identify legal, political, and social dimensions from the 1700s to Present day.

Late Assignments:
Late assignments will not receive full points. Partial points and acceptance of late work will be at
the discretion of the instructor. Students must contact the instructor for all instances of late work
to receive any credit.

Grading Rubrics & Scale:

A 90-100%

B 80-89.9%

C 70-79.9%

D 60-69.9%

F Below 60%

● Attendance/Class Participation:​ This is an interactive class. For you to receive the
maximum benefit from the class, your participation is imperative.
● Class Etiquette:
○ Treat others how you want to be treated.
○ School policy will also apply in all instances.
○ No cell phones.

Academic Dishonesty:
The highest standards of academic integrity are expected of all students. The failure of any
student to meet these standards may result in suspension or expulsion.
