English Text:
Sufficient is Allah for me, there is none worthy of worship except Him. Upon Him I
put all my trust, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
2. What was the Du’aa of Zakariyyah you learnt from Surah Maryam. Quote its
Translation.
“O my Lord! My bones have become frail, and my head is covered with grey hair
but I never failed as long as I pray to You.
Now I fear what my relatives will do after me, but my wife is barren: so give me
an heir”.
“O Zakariyyah! Surely We give you good news of a boy whose name shall be
Yahya”
4. We read in the story of Prophet Zakariyya that though he was a Imaam along
with other Imaams in the Mosque, Zakariyya served for the sake of Allah while
others did not. Even though many of their actions might have looked the same,
their intentions were very different. Zakariyya had faith that Allah could make
the humanly impossible possible. How does a sincere intention change the
outcome of one’s actions in this life and the next?
Sincere intention along with complete Trust in Allah can bring about amazing
changes in one’s life and destiny. Prophet Zakariyya made a moving duaa with
purity of intention and firmness of belief that worked wonders that brought him
the gift of the much-needed son.

a certain relationship with his niece. Draw lessons on the differences between
the two stories.
Prophet Zakariyya not only took care of his niece, he also maintained good
relation with her in accordance with the Divine Law. He was her sincere well-
wisher and care-taker. King Herod, on the other hand, was misusing his power
and had vicious relationship with his niece. He also went against the Law of his
religion.
She was a relative of Prophet Zakariyya’s wife and she grew up under Allah’s
special protection. A daughter of pious parents, she used to spend much time
worshipping alone at the Sacred Chamber under Zakariyya’s spiritual supervision.
When Zakariyya entered her chamber, he would find her with sufficient food and
fruits that were out of season. Allah says in Surah Maryam: “Where from this
comes to you?” She said, “This is from Allah, for Allah provides sustenance to
whom He pleases without measure”.
Although Zakriyya was very old, he wished that he would be blessed with a
righteous child just like Maryam.
