Observe your MST’s classroom and general practices you see around the school. Discuss
the areas below in context of what you observe in school and support with a photo and a
reference to reading when possible.
A left-hand table that includes computers with small chairs for kids, resources shelves that
includes baskets with students needs ex: glues-color and normal pencil- pen color-cubes-
domino- eraser etc… and beside it, there is a teacher assistance table. In next there is a big
cupboard teacher can put everything on it, after cupboard in the corner there is a bookshelf
that includes storybooks and sofa with small table. Window on the right wall with students
notebooks shelves with some educational games and at the end of the wall in the corner
there is teacher desk (MST), smart board and whiteboard and in front of it, there is a carpet.

Consider how the class is a print rich environment. What print can you see around the
room? (labels, captions, flashcards, headings, rules, instructions, timetable, flash cards,
etc) For each one you mention insert pictures and state the purpose of each one.

Does the teacher read to the children? How often? How does she motivate them to read?
The teacher set in front on the desk and students while students set on the carpet.
Sometimes it is before students back to home, and she takes them every Tuesday to the
library and they can borrow any book they want.
Describe the reading approaches have you observed? Where do the children sit? How does
the teacher encourage participation?
When teacher use shared reading strategy, for example when MST read a story for the
students before she starts to read a story she discusses a cover page with students. During
reading story sentence teacher point on the word from right to left.
How does the teacher teach phonics and word attack skills to children? Describe a phonics
lesson you observed and mention how the children are scaffolded to recognise the word
and get the meaning.
Teacher teach the students phonics by reading a story, flashcards, educational games and
phonics songs.
Describe some types of writing activities or the method the teacher uses for writing – e.g
emergent writing, copy writing, dictations, etc
