Part D: More About The Future Tense

We also, very often, use “be + going to” to express future tense.
We put a form of the verb “be + going to” between a subject and a verb in future statements.

She is going to paint the

room tomorrow.
(subject pronoun) (a form of the verb be going to) (verb)

Table #4: Positive Statements (future tense with “be + going to”)

Part F: Use the present continuous to express future

tense

Sometimes we also use “present continuous” to express future tense. If words in the sentence
already help show us future, then we can use the present continuous form to express future
tense.
Examples:

(a) I am going to study tomorrow.

(b) I am studying tomorrow.

Question:

(a) What are you going to wear to the party next Saturday?
(b) What are you wearing to the party next Saturday?

Negative:

(a) He isn’t going to come to school next week.

(b) He isn’t coming to school next week.

**Both (a) and (b) in the above sentences have the same meaning

There is / There are

There = statement (telling)

ONE TWO or MORE

There is (There’s) There are
There is not (There’s not) There are not (There aren’t)
(There isn’t)
