don´t mind him but I can´t stand her.

He didn´t say so, but It was understood. Expenses will be paid, that`s understood (se
sobreentiende). I understood you play tennis (tengo entendido juegas tenis)

In the long run (short run) I need you.

Don´t get lost (no te pierdas). They are getting ready (se están preparando). Let me show
around the house.

Hardly anyone(casi nadie), hardly nothing (casi nada) is cheap, only the cup and the cup)
(almost everybody, casi todos, almost everything is expensive) knows my name/pays any
attention to me/smoke/fall sleep in my class. hardly anybody deep down (en el fondo)
believe what I say./maganed to stay awake (logro quedarse despierto)

I can`t figure it out (explicar). Is it me or is it them? Do you know how expensive it is?
Any suggestion? (alguna sugerencia).

Either they were drug or I am a boring teacher.

They both or both of them

And those three people how many speak English.

Neither /None of wich convince me. There are 2 possiblity. Both of wich are good. There are
3 possibilies. All of wich are good

You are welcome any time.

Don`t get used to it

Hard work and careful planning always pay off

You are not aware there`s a person here. I am sorry how we met. That`s no entirely true. This is a huge
misunderstanding. What am I supposed to do ?(que hago ahora). I have faith in you. It was a minor
incident. I`ve been looking a long for you. Do you want to ride with us? (quieres venir con nosotros?). I
have a kind of headache, it`s not because of you..this one is my father`s favourite. We are going to travel
for a few days. What brought you to Atlanta?. One other thing (una cosa mas). God bless of us. Go

quick (apurense). I have a reservation for me and my boys. Bear with me (please be patient,
aguantame) for a moment/this will only take 5 minutes. We are gather here (estamos aqui reunidos). He
is difficult person to travel with. I`ve pick up breakfast. It makes sense. I `ll grab the bag. No need, I `ll
be there on Friday. What`s this picture from? (cuando tomaron esa foto). She mentioned that she
bumped into (tropezarse, cruzarse, chocarse) you. You and his wife exchange emails. Nothing else
matters. What am I missing?( No entiendo). I don’t´know how I gonna make without you. We gonna
make it.

I keep/lose track (pista, huella, hilo) of conversation. You are in right/wrong track (bien encaminado)

Everybody looks up to (admirar) her

My mother let in (dejar entrar) the old cat. I `ll let the dog in. should I let them in?. sorry it`s closed so
we can not let you in. do you let him in?. Please let me in!!!

Set off (begin a journey) we set off to London at 6 o clock to avoid the traffic

Catch up with (ponerse al dia, alcanzarlo) the police managed to catch up with the criminal. She caught
up with the leading runner

Don`t worry about your keys, they will turn up (aparecer)

Think up ( ocurrirse algo a alguien, idear) I have thought up a new slogan. I have just thought up the
solution for your problem

When spring comes, people often feel inclined to do up (arreglar) their houses. You are all done up
(estas muy vestido). Do up your shoes (atar) .She was all done up (estaba muy elegante). I am
planning to do up the house next summer. Do as you`re told (haz lo que se te dijo). Do as I tell you.
How are we doing for time/money (como vamos de dinero). I haven`t done yet (no he terminado). His
concern to do well by his son (su preocupacion por hacer bien para su hijo). It`s not ideal , but it will do
(no es lo mejor , pero sirve). Bread and cheese will do for them! One bottle will do (una botella es
suficiente). The do`s and don’ts for foreign travel (que hacer y no…normas). A list of do`s and don`ts.
That will do!(basta ya). A bit of exercise does you good. How do? (informal, que tal?)

To whom it may concer ( a quien corresponda).

They are both chasing the same woman (perseguir). We chased afer the thiefs (salimos detrás de los
ladrones). To chase afer girls (ir detras de las chicas)

Trying to find the missing paper has turned out to be a wild goose chase (pérdida de tiempo)/(goose
chase= busqueda inutil)

The meat was done to a turn (en el punto justo). Take the next left/right turn . whose turn is it? ( a
quién le toca?). take turns (turnarse).

Have you no shame? (no tienes verguenza?) shame on you (debería darte vergüenza/ que vergüenza!).
It`s a shame you can`t go. What a shame! (quelastima). She wore a mini skirt at the funeral without
shame (sin avergonzarse). Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. She`s such good
hostess, she puts me to shame (avergonzar). His playing really puts me to shame. I was, to my shame, a
coward. I don`t want to bring shame on my family name.

Come on now, be serious! (vamos, vamos , mas formalidad). Are you serious about wanting to change
your job? You can`t be serious! (estas bromeando?). let`s be serious!. Things are getting serious.
Things aren`t always what they seem. (las apariencias engañan). She doesn`t seem to have noticed (no
parece haberse dado cuenta). I seem to remember that you … (creo recorder que..). it seem to
me/you/they (me parece…). It doesn`t seem right to me (no me parece correcto). I can`t seem to
remember where I put it (no logro recorder..). it seems to be closed. So it seems (eso parece) . it seems
to be raining. I seem to remember her face (creo recordar su cara). The patients seem to be in good
health. Everyone seems to think that …

They can`t agree with the solution to the problem

It`s a great place to be.

I am fairly sure (casi seguro). I didn´t get top marks in the exam , but my results were fairly good
(bastante Buenos, aceptables)

It`s once in life time opportunity

Do that once more and I`ll tell to your father. He did it once. I once wanted to be dancer. Come here at
once!. Not once did I ask them for help (ni una vez le pedi ayuda). Once you get started, it`s hard to stop.
Once inside the house, she felt safer. I`ll let you off this once (esta vez) (let off=perdonar). The
band came back to play once again. I heard from old school friend once in a while (de vez en cuando).
Press the “enter key” only once (solo una vez). Leave the room at once. Why can`t you be nice to her for
once ?(por una vez)

….Australia despite their loss against india

Making it non-stop hockey during the year. The train runs non- stop between londres to madrid

Let`s see what comes out of it

Borrow my car? (que te preste el auto?). you should be so lucky (ni soñarlo)

I am not paying you any money whatsoever (en absolute). His attempt form the edge of the semi circle
gave keeper no chance whatsoever and Australia led 2-1.

Today meaningful titles are not won simply trough emotional motivation.

Take over from me (sustituir) , I `ll be back in a moment. When Hendriks took over Spain. The man
whose job I took over. I don´t care whose it is?. That is my wife whose parents live in Bilbao.

I think that`s tough for anybody to take it (accept it, tolerate it….)

Whose idea was this? (de quien fue la idea). Do you know whose house that is? He won`t tell me whose
fault it was.

He lives for the present (vive el momento). I was not paid up to the present (hasta ahora)

When you are my age…( cuando tengas mi edad). I have a son your age. I haven`t seen her for ages. Age
limit.
There`s no risk of anyone knowing you here (no hay manera de alguien te conozca aquí). He runs the
risk of being arrested. It isn`t worth the risk (no vale la pena arriegarse). He risks failure. (se arriesga a
fracasar). I can`t risk losing my job. You risk your life when you drive too quickly.

Does he travel as part of his job?

Anything to do with films (todo lo relacionado con el cine).

(No tiene nada que ver con eso)It has nothing to do with that. It's got nothing to do with that.
(Qué tiene que ver?)What does it have to do with that? What's that got to do with it?

We saw more of him now (ahora la vemos más)

We were a bit low on confidence but we did well tonight

They put the game out of reach of NZeland

He said with pride. I had to shallows my pride (tragarse el orgullo). We can take pride in our success
(estar orgullosos)

They were two goals down (perdian por 2). Down here/there. Face down (boca abajo). From de
president down (desde el president para abajo). I am going down to the library . the library is just down
the street (futher along). We drove on(seguir conduciendo) down (along) the Missisipi . halfway down
the road (hacia la mitad de la calle). To walk down the street .(andar por la calle). She`s been a bit down
after the breakup. If you keep criticizing Michael you just will bring him down (make sb sad or
depressed). Wheter he is free or not, it`s down to judge`s decision. (depender)

He always beats me at chess. I scored 345, Beat that!. You have to know when you are beaten. If
can`t beat them join them. He beats his wife. It beats working any day (siempre es major que
trabajar). You can`t beat home-made apple pie. The government has beaten the inflation. Stop
beating about the bush!what`s he done? (no te vayas por las ramas…)
The odd thing is that (lo extraño es…). She must be 80 odd by now( at this moment). It cost me 30
pounds odd (approximately). He`s got a bit odd recently ( se ha vuelto un poco raro ). The odd man out
(el bicho raro). An odd sock (calcetin sin pareja).

Have you always wanted to see famous up close and personal?( de cerca)

Would you like some more? How much more flour?(cuanta más harina?). let`s say not more about it (no
hablemos más de esto). Have you anything more to say?. We had four more than we needed. (tenemos
4 de más). There`s more to life than politics. I don`t go there anymore than I have to (no voy
allá más de lo necesario). I love you more and more each day. (te quiero cada dias más). I was more
surprised than anything. (me causo más sorpresa que otra cosa ). I like him much more now than I did
when he was younger

Can I have a drop?(una gota).drop by drop (gota a gota) A drop in the ocean. I dropped the cup. Don`t
drop it!.Drop the ball (to make a mistake especially by doing something stupid or careless way) For
God`s sake don`t drop the ball on this, we`re relying on you. Drop that gun!. I can drop them there on
my way home. (deliver, pasar a dejar). Drop me a line (colloq; mandar) (escribme). Just drop everything
and come (deja todo y vente). Why don`t you drop by for a cup of coffee sometimes? (colloq; pasar). I
have to drop by the office (pasar por la oficina). I `ll drop in sometimes tomorrow (pasar; pasare en
algun momento mañana). I`ll drop over to your house (pasar). Everybody dropped out of the visit (no
presentarse, abandoner, dejar de asistir). I drop my husband off at work every morning. (dejar)

With many key players missing from the line up,….

Do you follow me? (me entiendes?). he entered, followed by the queen (el entró seguido por la reina).
She followed him into the library (entró en la libraria después de el). The lecture was followed by a
discussion. Follow her example. The winners were as follows…(los ganadores fueron…). Don`t follow
behind (no te quedes atrás)

Even a child could do it. That makes us even (estamos a mano). So now we`re even. The next day was
even colder (el dia siguiente fue aún más frio). You`r e not even trying. We`ll do it even if it takes a
months. (aunque..). even if I knew I wouldn`t tell you. Even if we see never each other again, I `ll
remember you. The floor isn`t even ( no está nivelado). After four laps they are even. I`ll get even with
her (me las pagará). Even now (aún ahora) there are people who believe …. I know you don`t like
vegetables, but even so (aún así) you must eat them. I was 5 year old, but even then (ya entonces) I
knew that war was a terrible thing. Odd and even (par o impar)

We saw them on the way up (los vimos mientras subiamos). Up there/here. Your book is up in my room
(tu libro está arriba en mi habitación). The nursed helped him up (la enfermera lo ayudó a levantarse).
He is not up yet . we were up all night. It`s a step up for me (es un paso adelante). What`s up with you?.
They are 3 goals up on the home team (van ganando por 3 goles al equipo de casa). Juventus is two up
(va ganando por dos). You don´t know what you`re up against (no sabes a lo que te enfrentas). How well
up are you on what`s been happening? (cuanto sabes de lo que ha estado sucediendo?). she is not up to
(capable of) the job. Do you feel up to going on?. It`s not up to (depends on) me to decide. It`s just up
the road (futher along). I live just up the street. (vivo un poco mas allá) . Go up the river (along) (ir por el
rio). I am going up to new York (voy a NY). What are you doing up there? (que haces allá arriba?). our
time is up. Time is up. She is bearing up (sobrellevar, bear up) well despite the pressure she is
under.

Hands up all those in favour. Will you hand this book to your sister please? (hand to = give to, pass to)

Given that (dado que) you weren`t really listening I see why you don`t understand. It`s a given (es un
hecho)

Up against

Gun for sb or sthg (ir a la caza de…). The athletes are gunning for a gold medal

Is that a new suit you are wearing?. She is new to this company. It`s as good as new. My brand new
(ultimo modelo, sin uso, flamante) jean are cool

It`s a waste of time/money/ effort. It was a wasted journey. You`re wasting my time. You`ve wasted your
money on the car. What a waste of time !(qué perdida de tiempo). What is it a waste of?. He did puzzle
just to waste time.
I can`t help it (no lo puedo evitar). Are you going to visit them? Not if I can help it (no si lo puedo
evitar). He can`t help being stupid (no tiene la culpa de ser estupido).I can`t help thinking that..(no
puedo evitar pensar). Can I use your phone? Help yourself (está en su casa). Help yourself to any books
you want (agarra el libro que quieras). Don`t panic, help is on the way. Can I be of any help to you ?( te
puedo ayudar en algo?. That`s a great help (que gran ayuda). I `d like to help you out (dar una mano)
but I am short of money myself at the moment

Edgy=nervy

My foot is hurting me (me duele el pie). Nobody likes to get hurt. Nobody got/was hurt. Hard work
never hurt anyone (trabajar duro nunca hizo daño). Where does it hurt? (donde le duele). Do your
shoes hurt? . it wouldn`t hurt you to be friendly (ser amable no te haria daño). I was hurting all over (me
dolia todo). Can`t hurt to give the game some publicity

He is a head taller than his brother (es una cabez más alto). To be head over heels in love (estar
locamente enamorado). Heads up! (cuidado). Use your head!. Where are you heading? (donde vas?).
it`s time we were heading back (es hora de que volvamos). We are gonna head out (salir, partir) for
dinner. What time do you head out tomorrow morning?. We headed out for Denver very early in the
morning. He`s off his head (está loco). We need to head off at 8 pm. (salir). …as I headed for the
station…(mientras me dirigia a la estacion)

Slight problem.

You turned out well (resultar, terminar)

I never gave it much thought. I `ll give some thought (lo pensaré). Afer much thought. On second
thought (pensandolo bien). Who would have thought it ?(quien lo hubiera pensado?)

…in fortnight ago

It`s high time you did it (era hora que lo hicieras). It`s high time someone explained to you about
good manners.

Oversee= supervisar

If they have a player that they believe is worthy of inclusion..

I am committed to helping her. (estoy compremtido a ayudarla). She was committed to speak at
the conference that morning.

…with a view (con el fin de) to improving the tournaments.

There is an acceptance within our coaches teams that they don`t always get decisions
regarding national squads completely right. This has been within our international team
players evident in terms of the mental and physical effects of overplaying.
I am planning to take a different highway in order to bypass (eludir, driver=evitar entrar) a NY
city. Players may not use this process to bypass the traditional route to Squad A. He bypassed
his rules (ella paso encima las reglas)

Ensuring they prioritize the school work amonsg their busy sporting life. We have too many
thing to do and must prioritize. They have to prioritize regional traning for club trainings.

..traditional pathway (sendero, camino)

Nature vs nurture (se nace o se hace?)

Are people born violent or they become violent because of how they are raised?

This natural and needed that we are to have competitive inter provincials.

As such (por eso) their availability to club is reduced.

…and as such are the primary targets for success at the highest level.

…this happens when the player is in the middle of their secondary education and all additional
pressures that this brings

Asked how long it had been since he had played in the Perth competition, Dwyer chuckled and
said: "It's been a while."

Ireland finished the tournamente on 9 pts but argentina can match them on 9 pts if they beat
Korea. The love a mother feels for her children is unmatchable (inigualable)

He seems confident but deep down he is insecure

Ask your mother. I asked him his name. I often ask myself. Ask her about doing overtime
(preguntale si puede hacer horas extras). Nobody ask your opinion. What can you ask? (que
mas se puede pedir?). is that asking too much? (es mucho pedir?).I am going to ask him
for it back(voy a pedir que me lo devuelva). She asks too much for the students.(le exige
mucho).they asked to help out (me pidieron que les ayude). I must ask you to leave. I asked to
see the manager. Ask him along (dile que venga). Ask him in (dile que entre). How much is
he asking for the car?(cuanto pide por le auto?). how are things? Don`t ask. You may well
ask. (buena pregunta).he asked for it (se la busco, colloq ). I don't think any coach
can ask journalists to leave. That is up to the organizing committee to decide if the training is a
closed door session or not. Since he had not told the committee anything, he did not have any right
to ask the media to leave."

Her skill as negotiator. Her skill at (doing) crosswords. He had an opportunity to demonstrate his
skill at riding. The skill of how to connect successfully has changed.

It`s no longer enough to make contact

It`s out of my reach (fuera de mi alcance). On my salary, a new Ferrari is out of my reach. I tried to
reach him by phone the other day. The baby cried for the ball, which was not within reach(al
alcance). Where can I reach you?. You always use the same method of communication to reach
everyone.

Set aside (dejar a un lado) your own preferences. I set aside my work to check on the baby. Set
your fears aside and jump into the water. I was told to stand aside to let the ambulance pass. I
will stand aside if anyone else wants the job.My dad took me aside (llevar aparte) and told me i`d
better not to do that again.

As a reward, they were allowed to go out. My parents bought a new laptop in reward for passing
the exam. When you stay in their moment, your listener will reward you by staying engaged and
focused ont your message. Reward people for their feedback.

She kissed him, and from that moment on he knew he would be someday his wife.

I `ll race you! (te juego una carrera). It `s a race against the clock.

The movie is aimed at young audience. The students aim for high marks during the examination

We deliver free of charge (repartimos gratis. We have our newspaper delivered everyday. (nos
tren el periodico todos los dias)

Sticky (pegajoso). Sticky tape (cinta adhesive). First words are sticky

Among her peers (pares). Anna peered at (echar un vistazo) her phone but couln`d read the
number. Deliver as peer to peer, not student to teacher.

Form a queue (fila). Join the queue (pongase en la cola). To jump the queue (colarse). he accused
me for queue jumping. You have to queue up (hacer fila) and wait your turn like everyone else.

Just checking! (solo me queria asegurar). Check that it`s closed (asegurate de que esté cerrado).
Thewoman who checked us in (la chica que nos atendió, aeropuerto). Can you check up on that?
(puedes comprobarlo?).have you been checking up on me? (me has estado vigilando?). she
checked to see if the car was still there.

It would be highly unlikely that he would play a part in this camp for the Australia tour. It is
unlikely he will turn up now. (es poco probable que aparezca ahora). She is unlikely to
arrive before 7 pm. It is unlikely that she will come.

She is likely to forget. Most likely she forget. This is a likely place for a restaurant. Likely
candidates for the job. Rain is likely. It`s more than likely that she is out. It is likely to be a
tough match (lo mas probableque se un partido dificil). Likely story! (ironic, cuentame otra).
No change is likely (no se prevee ningun cambio). Are you likely to be in tomorrow?

Your vocabulary increases at a rate (ritmo) of 5 words a day. I am reading at a rate of 100
pages a day. At this rate, it`ll take weeks. How do you rate (rank, consider) the movie on a
scale of 1 to 10?. Having more policeman should lower the crime rate.
Come across(parecer)as human, not robotic.

Make your point without making an enemy. We have reached the point of no return. Things
have reached such a point that…. You are right up to a point. To make point with sb (hacer
meritos). All right you have made your point!(ya dijiste lo que querias). I take your point
but ..(entiendo lo que dices pero…). What`s the point of going on? (que sentido tiene
seguir?). what`s the point of arguing? she was brief and to the point (fue concise y al
grano). There is no point in feeling sorry for yourself. He has many good points.(tiene
muchas cosas buenas)

I`ll be back in a tick (momento). Ensure your tone doesn`t tick them off(fastidiar). The new
airlanes regulations really ticked me off.

Actually, i`d rather not go ( en realidad preferiria no ir). What do you actually think about it?.
No, actually,I am irish. I never believed I `d actually win.

This is open to misunderstandings or abuse.(se presta a malos entendidos o abusos). The

competition is open to everybody. Several options are open to us. Let`s leave the date open.
I am always open to suggestions. To have an open mind. To open fire on sb or sthg. Open
wide (abra la boca grande).open up! Police!..He found it difficult to open up to (abrirse) his
father.(le costaba ser abierto o franco con su padre). She opened up (sincerarse) and told me
about her marriage. In the open(al aire libre).it is an open and shut case (es un caso
clarisimo). Half open (entreabierto). An open question (asunto pendiente) . she is an open
person. Let`s crack open (descorchar) this bottle and get the party started. I have to force
open (abrir a la fuerza) the dog`s mouth to give him the medecin. People who talk about their
relationships on tv are open to attack (expuestos a hacer atacados) in the newspapers. Keep
other connected to you and open to making positive changes.

It all connects up (está todo relacionado)

it was his fault that we were late.-(for doing sth at fault) (culpable)I think the owners are at fault
for not warning us. She was at fault (la culpa fue suya). Who is at fault here? (quien es el
culpable?). don´t be the habitual fault-finder.

Be tolerant of different viewpoints

It makes a pleasant change. (es un cambio agradable). Pleasant dreams!(felices sueños). What a
pleasant surprise!. We spent the evening in very pleasant company. Pleasant journey, pleasant
time.

The proyect was doomed (condenar=doom) from the start. Doomed to failure. Don`t doom other
with insincere input.

How could he miss an easy goal like that?.He missed his plane. I missed her at the station. I
missed one of the questions of the exam (me saltee una…). She misses her mother. I am giving the
party a miss (no voy a la fiesta). I threw the ball and missed (tire y falle). Cuando to miss significa
echar de menos o perder y quieres usar un verbo, tiene que ser un gerundio: I'll miss hearing her voice.
Echaré de menos oír su voz. I'm sorry I missed seeing you the other day. Siento no haberte visto el otro
día. I got in too late and missed seeing the news on Tv.

When did you realize that the money was missing (lost)?
There is a page missing from this book. He has several teeth missing.

My office is at the top floor. It`s on the left as you come out of the lift.

We were sitting at the back. Could you write your address on the back of the card?.i was
sitting in the back (of the car) when we crashed.

Now obviously there is a major reason why this has happened.

To be on a tight budget (presupuesto apretado). Hold tight! (agarrate fuerte). These

trousers are very tight on me. We are running to a very tight schelude. (tenemos una
agenda apretada). After wining the bronze medal in a tight game against …

Don’t go counting the days but make the days count! ( Jim Tindall)
Des Abbott, who has been sidelined for most of the year with a knee injury.

Where would you rather play?(donde preferirias jugar?)

It is very easy to do. It`s easy to see that…Easy come, easy go (asi como viene se va).
To take the easy way. That`s easy for you to say. Money doesn`t come easy. Go easy on
the sugar (no te pases con la azucar). Go easy on him (no seas duro con el)

What`s never missing from your suitcase? What music do you take with you on a trip?on
what trip have you done something you`d never imagined you`d do?

What rules change are you most interested in?

First loss to New Zealand since 1998! Hopefully we bounce back

(“bauns”recuperarse) on Saturday!

He talked me into going.(talk into=convencer)

Did they get the books they were after? (consiguieron los libros que buscaban?)

We are afer an illusion, (Vamos tras una ilusión.)

We have a sense of responsibility. She took full responsibility for the disaster(ella cargo con toda
la responsabilidad). The child is my responsibility. It is the responsibility of all doctors to
make sure that they are up to date with the latest medical knowledge.

I am keen on (ser aficionado a algo) travel (me encanta viajar) . I was keen to (desear
hacer algo) start work (tenia muchas ganas de empezar a trabajar). He didn`t seem too
keen on idea. They are keen on joining the club. She is very keen on him (le gusta
mucho)

Don`t make a habit of it (que no se repita). To break a habit. To get out of habit of doing
sthg / into the habit of (perder la costumbre o tomar la constumbre). You are going to
have to kick the habit (dejar el vicio). They say if you do something for 14 days in a row,
it becomes a habit
Unlike any other hockey tournament, Hockey Australia has created an innovative tournament
called the International Super Series which introduces all new and exciting rules to make the game
ever faster and more exciting than ever before.

We've got a shirt to give away to whoever can guess the first Aussie player to score.
there's a free shirt to give away to the first person to guess the first Aussie to score.

We all know its rare to have hockey on free to air TV, so please encourage everyone to
watch to ensure it rates well so we can get more hockey on TV in the future

The reasons as to (en cuanto a..) why there isn’t more hockey on free to air TV are
varied but there are two major reasons – cost and interest.

As to your request I am afraid I have to say no

As if to say (como diciendo) He nodded at her as if to say goodbye.

As an alternative to. Water can be used as an alternative to milk in some recipes

We understand there may be some traditionalists who are not fans of the rule changes.

The boys have been on fire during the 3 Nations tournament - winning each game by an
average of 4 goals.

….and now remaining undefeated during the 3 Nations tournament against Pakistan and India.

A number of senior players have been named in the Australia A side including Fergus Kavanagh, Joel Carroll
and Luke Doerner, who have all recently returned from injury. 4 time world player of the year Jamie Dwyer
will also be rested from the matches on Thursday.

Charlesworth said he has been happy with the teams progression, but there is still much room for
improvement. (podria ser mejor=there is room for improvement)

There is no room for you (no cabes). To take up a lot of room (ocupar mucho sitio). No room
for error(no hay lugar para errores)

Pakistan are always a difficult team and I expect it to be a real challenge for us when we play them on
Thursday. I still think we have a lot of loose ends (cabos sueltos, flecos) to tie up but certainly from the
Oceania Cup and the Lanco International Super Series and now at this tournament we are getting to a better
level,” said Charlesworth.

Fall out with (enemistarse). Stop doing that or you will fall out with all your friends

Sort out (poner en orden-resolver ) my son need to sort out the clothes in the closet

Carry out (llevar a cabo, realizar) Attacks were carried out againts inmigrants.Let`s get carry out (comida
para llevar)

La casa invita (it’s on the house):

Can we get more peopel to choose the stairs by making it fun to do. 70% more peoplethan normal
chose the stairs over the escalator. Fun can obviously change behaviour for the
better.
We've now got some work ahead of us in order to be in the final match."

"Before (the German loss) we had the chance to put ourselves in a Champions Trophy final, and
secure top spot, but we let that slip”(resbalar, to let an opportunity slip or let slip an
opportunity, dejar pasar la oportunidad). They let the contract slip through their fingers

“I am temporarily pleased”. I am pleased the way the team played against Germany. We not
only played a solid game but also managed to control it. We had a lot of chances and also showed
a lot of quality on the field

What time`s the meeting? I will tell you tomorrow (not I will tell you it tomorrow)

We have had a new coach since last year and with that obviously come a lot
changes. We have a very young squad and with that come new skills and lot of
new talent to group

Put the car away please. I `ve already done so

It was a pity she hadn`t done so earlier

We use do so mainly to refer to the same action, with the same subject that was
mentioned before. In other cases we prefer use it/that or do alone
I haven`t got time to get the tickets. Who`s going to do it?

She rode a camel. She had never done so/that before. I promise to get the tickets, I will
do so/it as soon as possible. I rode a camel in morocco. I`d love to do that.

I am sorry, I mistook you for somebody else. Where else did you go beside Madrid?.
Whatever else he may be, he`s not a poetry. We know when he was born and when he
died, but we don`t know much else about his life. When all else fails, read the
instructions.(informal else after all). What else would you like? You are wearing somebody
else`s coat. I didn`t see any other people (not..i didn`t see any else people.)(there is not
negative structure with else). Let`s go or else (otherwise) we`ll miss the train.you `d

 Coach (defender) applies pressure and takes away one side. X3 feels pressure
from defender and pushes the ball to the opposite space and shoots.

 Play rebounds.
COACHING POINTS:

 X3 is working in a small space, and must be aware of where the defensive

pressure is coming from. He can look over his shoulder, and can also use body
contact to feel where the defender is and shield the incoming pass from the
defender trying to intercept.

 X3 signals clearly where he wants to receive the ball by using stick or pointing.

 If possible, X3 should redirect the ball to space with first touch, and then shoot
with second touch, before defender can pressure the shot.

Technique and the repetition of that technique is one of the keys for young players to
become confident in the things they do in matches. Often you will wonder why players don't
do things on the pitch that they do in training – usually because they feel under more
pressure and so their brains work slower.

Repetition will help make certain things become more of a natural instinct when players are
under pressure. So if your players are shy when it comes to shooting, get them practising
more during training to build up that memory and boost their confidence.
You may have noticed that your team playing well has a lot to do with the number of 1v1s
that players are winning

You pass a ball to one team to keep possession.

On your call of "freeze" the team not in possession must stand still.
The team with the ball must make 10 passes in between the opposition players as quickly as
possible. This means they must move into space quickly, call for the ball, and control it first
time before finding the next pass.
Switch roles each time so that the teams take it in turn to have possession.

Against a defender they need to be more skilfull to get past and take on the
goalkeeper.

Can they switch feet to fool the goalkeeper? Can they get into a better position to
shoot? Can they win the 1v1s to set themselves up with a chance?

This means players should be coached to show confidence in these situations. Of course
differente players have different ways of succeeding in 1 to 1

Didier Drogba of Chelsea forces and accelerates his way past defenders, while someone
such as Ronaldo, the Real Madrid striker, has made a career out of using tricks to make his
way around opponents.

Winning in these situations makes it easy for them to create goals, so try out the session
below and see how it improves not only your results, but your players' confidence too.

How to set it up:

Create a 20 yards long by 45 yards wide area with two goals at one end and two cones at
the other.

There is a coned line placed two thirds of the way towards the goals with a cone positioned
on the pitch in the centre.

One defender starts at the goal end with three attackers and two defenders on the cones at
the other end.

Getting started:

The defender positioned between the goals acts as the server and plays the ball to the
attacking player, who runs forward with the ball.

The defender then tries to force the player away from goal.

If the attacker reaches the coned-off area, a second defender can enter the area.

The attacker cannot shoot unless he gets past the cones.

The defender cannot tackle if the attacker gets past the cones, and can only position his
body to force play wide.

The attacker can score in either goal.

To progress the session, make it so that the defender cannot tackle in any part of the pitch.

Enhance the session further by adding goalkeepers as well, to instil in your attacker the
need to finish accurately once he is past his man.

Why this works:

Testing your players in 1v1 situations will improve their confidence. By adding limitations
such as the attacker not being able to shoot until he is past the coned area, you are
ensuring that the players go head-to-head.
By allowing a second defender to enter play, there is also the same time element that would
be present in any match situation, because if players dither, they will be tackled from other
sides. If your players are familiar with this move, you will witness the results in a match
situation.

Getting started:

Each player makes a pass to you. You make a return pass and the player dribbles out.

The player passes to the next passer and joins the back of the other queue.

You then turn to receive a pass coming from the other direction, and so on.

You can experiment with various return passes – a ball along the ground, a bouncing pass, or an
aerial loop.

The players must adjust to the serve, control the ball to the floor, then dribble out.

Why this works:

This is a short move that tests control and gets players on the move. You’ll be looking for
individuals to adjust their feet and body shape in order to receive your served pass.

They have to concentrate on the ball, show a soft touch and be able to progress quickly and
efficiently across the playing area, so this move tests all of the elements that they will encounter in
a standard match.

Inside the area 10 players have a ball while the two

remaining players are the evil ghosts.
The players must dribble their ball around the area
– they can move in any direction as long as they stay
within the area – trying to stay away from the ghosts.
The ghosts attempt to tag the dribbling players. Once a
player has been tagged they freeze and stand with their
feet apart holding their ball above their head.

See how many players the ghosts can freeze in 1

minute. The quickest time to tag all players, or the most
tagged when the time runs out, wins.
After each game nominate two new ghosts and restart
with all players back in the game.
