2. Question No. 8 is compulsory.
3. Solve any four questions out of remaining.
4. Due credit will be given to neatness and adequate dimensions.
5. Assume suitable data whenever necessary.
6. Illustrate your answers whenever necessary with the help of neat sketches.
7. Use of non programmable calculator is permitted.
8. Solve in all five questions.
1. Write the help of neat sketches exemplify on the non prismatic folded plate structures and 18
their possible variants. Enumerate their merits and limitations.
2. What are Anticlastic shells? Write in brief about their possible variants with sketches. 18
Enumerate their merits and demerits.
3. Explain with sketches Double Layer Grids, their types and subtypes. Bring out their 18
advantages and suitability.
4. What is prestressing of concrete? What are its advantages over R.C.C.? Distinguish 18
between Pre - Tensioning and Post - Tensioning.
5. What is standardisation & Modular co-ordination? With examples, explain how that helps 18
in pre - Fab / Pre Cast concrete construction.
6. What is meant by cladding? Why is it done to buildings? Explain with sketches various 18
methods of stone cladding.
7. Write short notes on any three. 18
a) Translational shells. b) Diagonal Grid Slab.
c) Geodesic Dome d) Prismatic Folded Plates
e) Curtain Glazing.
8. Compulsory Question : 28
A dismantlable structure of Approximate 125 SQM area having octagonal plan has to be
erected on Kasturchand Park Ground, Nagpur for temporary exhibition on Health and
Hygiene. The pavilion will be constructed using mild steel sections and enclosed with
coated G.I. sheets.
It will have a floor raised by 200 mm above ground constructed using plywood or Black
Board. You are required design and draw the following to explain the construction scheme.
a) Floor Plan - 1 : 50 scale
(Showing supports / Enclosure / Entry etc.)
b) Roofing plan : 1 : 50 scale
(Showing roofing Grid/ sheets etc.)
c) Section - 1 : 50 scale
d) Three details - 1 : 5 scale
(At Floor level, intermediate level and Roof level)
Assume required data suitably.
