On the next few pages, we will be doing some simulations of a TOEIC Speaking Test. Please
listen to your tutor very well and do not hesitate to ask you tutor questions.
The writing that you will see in RED shows you that in the real exam, you will not be able to read
this but you will hear it in a recording. The writing that you see in BLUE tells you that this is
written text that you will find in your test booklet.
If there are any additional instructions, you tutor will advise you before you begin.

I. Read Aloud. You will be asked to read a passage out loud. You will be scored based on your
pronunciation and intonation. Please take a few minutes to relax and prepare yourself for
the reading selection. Do not hesitate to ask questions.
Has your family or any one of your friend’s families ever been affected by a fire? Fire
destroy a person’s morale and it is really difficult to recover from what the flames have
left behind. It is important that before leaving the house, you unplug all the appliances
and shut down the fuse box. Fires cause a lot of destruction but something can be done
to prevent it. We just have to be vigilant and remember the safety precautions.
II. Describing a picture. You will be asked to look at a picture. You need to give as many details
as you can about the picture within the time allowed.
III. Responding to Questions. You will be given a sample scenario. You will be asked to answer
three questions.
A student training to be a teacher is applying for a job at the local library. Assist the
student by answering her questions.
Questions:
1.Why do you want to work in the library?
2.How will you balance work and studying?
3.What will you do if we hire you and you realize you don’t like the job?

V. Propose a Solution. For this question, you will be given a problem and you will have to offer
a solution.
Hello, this Anna Richards. I bought a blender from your store today but it is not
working. I plugged in into the socket but nothing happened. I have not been able to
use it. I looked at the manual and I followed all the instructions, but it is not working.

VI. Express an Opinion. For this question you will listen to a familiar issue and offer your opinion
