Session Guide
G7 TEACHER: MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Topic: G7 Teacher: Make A Difference!


Time: 1 hour
Resources Needed:
Laptop with speakers
LCD projector
5 sheets of ½ manila paper
5 permanent markers

A. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:


a. reflect on their motivations/motives in teaching; and
b. express appreciation of their important roles as teachers.

B. LEARNING EPISODES

Introduction

We often hear the quotation –‘People do not care how much you know unless they
know how much you care.’ In this session, you will be led to look deeply on your inner
self as a person and as a teacher.

I. ACTIVITY(X-Factors)
Group work (10 minutes)
1. Have the participants answer – What do you think are the expectations of the students
on you as their teacher? Fill up this table of your responses and rank your answers. (for
5 minutes;play instrumental music)
Rank Students’ Expectations

2. Allow each group to present their outputs in 2 minutes.

II. ANALYSIS(10 minutes)

Ask the following questions.


1. How did you come up with your answers?
2. Was it easy deciding on your answers? Why?
3. What were your considerations in ranking your answers?
4. What are the common top answers?
5. Was there any ‘Aha’ moment while answering the question?

III. ABSTRACTION(10 minutes)

Have them view video 1: What the Students Say?


 Have you noticed similarities with that of your group’s answers? What are
those?
 What have you realized as a teacher?

IV. APPLICATION(30 minutes)

1. Show video 2: A Touching Teacher’s Story.


2. Have the participants write a letter to their students expressing their thoughts and
feelings as G7 teachers. (in their notebooks; play instrumental music)
3. Allow two volunteers to share their letters with the class.
