Study Plan

The document discusses the objectives of studying renewable energy and management systems in the United States. It notes that Indonesia, like many countries, faces concerns about energy sustainability and natural resource depletion. It also highlights Indonesia's increasing commitment to renewable energy projects in recent years. The objective of the program is to gain perspectives on energy issues from business and policy standpoints, and topics like implementing renewable energy systems and carbon footprint analysis. The goal is to apply the knowledge and experience back in Indonesia, such as by working to strengthen renewable energy development and raise awareness of sustainable solutions.

STUDY OBJECTIVE

As time goes on, more recent studies have shown that there is great concern about energy
sustainability, especially on how they might impact the world in the long run as well as natural
resource depletion. Indonesia also shares this concerns as the commitment for renewable energy
has also risen substantially in the recent years, ranging from projects built by state owned
enterprises (i.e PLN, Wijaya Karya, etc). many provinces in Indonesia have also shown increase in
renewable energy shares in the past years.

By 2030, Indonesia’s need for energy would have more than tripled, due to the increase in
economic growth especially in the transportation and industry sectors that have given a surge in
growth. Indonesia itself is a unique challenge for national electrification, due to the geographical
layout of area in Indonesia, But the unique layout could also be beneficial for implementing
renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and also tidal. If the usage of green technology
could be executed correctly, Indonesia could backbone their energy needs on renewable
sources. Indonesia Government policies has also shown a positive outlook for renewable energy,
some notable events are the establishment of the 5 MW solar farm in NTT, Kupang in 2015 and also
the 75 MW Wind Farm in Sulawesi which is operated under Indonesia state owned company.

As a country, the United States have always been a country faced by many challenges,
and energy is one as such due to the increase in price and also the need for efficiency. As per
2016, the United States have adopted 12,2% of their total energy sources from renewables, with
wind and hydroelectric power as their biggest contributors, showing their commitment for
implementing Renewable energy sources. Backed by both government policies and Renewable
energy technology in the United States, Has been a factor of success on implementing renewable
energy in their country. Their contribution on topics for clean technology and successful strategy
executions in renewable energy is one my main reasons for studying in the United States.

The course that I wish to take is a Postgraduate Programme on the subject of Renewable
Energy and Management Systems. The course would give me a perspective around the issues
about energy problems on both business and public policy perspective. Such courses are
implementation of renewable energy in electrical power systems, carbon footprint management
and analysis, urban sustainable concepts in emerging countries and model simulations of
renewable energy systems. The variety of subjects in regards of the programme would give me a
better understanding in solving energy management issues while giving me a wide arrange of
opportunities to learn and implement strategies in regards to the topic.

Bringing back experiences and also exposure during studying, I hope to return to my
country, finding a profession in one of Indonesia’s energy sectors, strengthening their renewable
energy development projects thorough identifying key problems and also implementing strategic
policies while also raising awareness in my country around the topic of renewable and sustainable
energy systems.

With a broad perspective of how energy management works on an international scale, I

would hope that my knowledge would serve best at solving future energy crisis and also to sustain
future needs of electrical power generation using the means of renewable and clean technology.
By making sure the primary needs of electrical power are met, the main needs for a country’s
infrastructure would sustain, giving window for ample opportunity of future prospects for my
country.
