Controlled rectifiers have many applications from small rectifiers to large HVDC transmission systems. They are used in electrochemical processes, motor drives, traction equipment, power supplies, and other applications. The objectives are to: 1) Construct and simulate a half wave rectifier under different load conditions, 2) Examine the effects of a freewheeling diode, 3) Construct and simulate a half wave controlled rectifier with different firing angles, and 4) Perform a parametric sweep.

Controlled rectifiers have a wide range of applications, from small rectifiers to large high

voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. They are used for electrochemical
processes, many kinds of motor drives, traction equipment, controlled power supplies, and
many other applications.

OBJECTIVES
1. Construct and simulate half wave rectifier using PSpice under different load
conditions.
2. Examine the effects of a freewheeling diode.
3. Construct and simulate half wave controlled rectifier using different firing angles.
4. Perform a parametric sweep.
