Aims:
a. General – to review and practice defining and non- defining relative clauses
b. Specific:
- to review and practice the English pronouns
- to review and practice the relative pronouns
- to review and practice the relative adverbs
- to review the grammar of defining and non- defining relative clauses
- to review the use of relative pronouns
Possible problems:
Some students might have discipline problems. Some students might not know the
English pronouns – that is way I consider relevant to start the lesson with a revision of
them first, than to move to relative pronouns and their uses. Some students might feel
uncomfortable coming to the blackboard and writing/ transforming pronouns and
sentences in front of their classmates.
Teaching techniques:
Communicative, deductive and inductive methods are going to be used.
Eliciting, dialogue, grammar games and drills, rewriting drills, transformation
drills, gap filling, pair and group work …

Aids/Material:
Textbook, students’ book, blackboard, chalk, flash cards (pronouns), worksheets,
slide show, chart, handouts …
Stages of course:
1. Warm up: the teacher calls the attendance. The whole class and we have
t-s s-t interaction during this stage. The roll is used. ~ 5’ time allotted
(x2). At this stage of the lesson any prior homework could be checked if
any was given. Whole class, t-s s-t interaction and eliciting could be used.
Evaluation and feedback reasons are the motives behind this action.
Notebooks, chalk, blackboard, textbook could be used. ~ 5’ time allotted
(x2).

3. Practice: the teacher directs students during the first session to work in
pairs to complete different exercises on worksheets. Pair work, t-s s—s s-t
interaction. Reinforcement of English pronouns, speaking and listening
practice. . Notebooks, textbooks, charts, handouts, blackboard, chalk are
used. ~ 10-15’ time allotted. The teacher directs students during the
second session to work in pairs to complete different exercises 1, 2, 3/ 22.
