corps-style contest solos

for the intermediate-advanced snare drummer
by iay wanamaker, director of percussion: McDonald's All-American High School Band
0lympic All-American Marching Band
University of Southern California Tro.jan Marching Band

foreword

Rudimental snare drum solos have undergone many changes over the past several decades. Largely influenced by drum
and bugle corps, today's rudimentalist has a new percussion vocabulary. Due to the new rudiments, patterns (see PA.S.
lnternational Drum Rudiments-p. 16) and various visual effects, the new rudimental solo has developed into a highly
creative and interesting piece of music. lt is the author's intent to present worthwhile contest solos that can be enjoyed
and performed by all percussionists.
