GRANT PRIDECO HEAVYWEIGHT DRILL PIPE consists of two tool joints and one central
part. The steel used in the manufacture of the tool joints is AISI 4145 H high purity steel, fully heat
treated to brinell hardness 285 to 341 and 40 feet/pounds minimum IZOD Z or ASTM A 370 KVC 47
J/cm2. All physical properties are in accordance with API spec. 7 latest edition. The central part is
made from modified AISI 1340 steel . Tool Joints are attached by friction welding. Each joint of
HEAVYWEIGHT is ultrasonically inspected over its entire length. Connections are cold rolled,
kemplated and fitted with thread protectors.
