IQAS application process


Before you apply
FF Confirm that you require an IQAS assessment by either contacting the professional organization or
educational institution to which you are applying or by referring to our website at www.immigration.
alberta.ca/iqas.
FF Review the application checklist (Step 8 on the application form) to ensure you have all the necessary
educational documents for an assessment.
FF Obtain certified translations of all educational documents if the originals are not in English or French.
FF Make two sets of photocopies of all your educational documents.
FF Attach one set of photocopies to your original documents or certified copies in your IQAS application
package. Keep the second set of photocopies for your records.
FF Complete the IQAS application form (Steps 1-8). Print off the application form and SIGN it (Step 8).
Please note: the IQAS application form cannot be submitted online; it must be filled out, printed,
signed, and submitted with your documents.
FF Provide payment (see Steps 6 and 7 on the application form).
FF Include all original educational documents, photocopies, payment information, document checklist and
completed application form in one sealed package. Incomplete applications will be returned.
FF Send package by courier or registered mail to the IQAS office:

After you apply


• You will receive a confirmation letter in the mail approximately two weeks after your package is
received by IQAS.
This letter will confirm:
−−Receipt of your application package
−−Your file number
−−Approximate wait time for completion of your assessment
*Please do not phone the office to confirm if IQAS received your package. Instead, use the courier
or registered mail tracking number you were given when shipping your application package.*
• If IQAS requires any additional documents or information, you will be contacted by email, phone or
written letter.
• In cases where IQAS is unable to complete the assessment because of insufficient documentation or
an unrecognized institution, you will be contacted and a partial refund will be provided.
International Qualifications Assessment Service

• In cases where you want to cancel an application before the file has been processed, a partial refund
will be provided.
• Refunds will not be provided when:
−−An assessment is cancelled by you after IQAS has begun processing
−−Documents appear to be altered, tampered with or forged
−−A false translation is provided
• Processing time for an IQAS assessment varies depending on research needed and application
volumes. Please check our website www.immigration.alberta.ca/iqas for current processing times.
• IQAS does not provide rush assessments. Applications are processed in the order they are received.

After your IQAS assessment is completed


When your assessment is complete, you will be sent a package with an original IQAS assessment certificate
and all of your original documents. These will be returned by Priority Courier to the address you provided on
the application form. It is your responsibility to update changes to your address by contacting the IQAS office.
If you requested IQAS to release your assessment results to another organization, (Step 5 on the application
form) a copy of your assessment will be sent directly to them by regular mail.

After receiving your assessment


IQAS has a reassessment process. If you are not satisfied with your assessment, you may submit a request
for reassessment in writing to the IQAS office. This must be submitted within one year of the original date
of assessment.
