ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF FIRE FIGHTING TEAM.

AIM:
To observe the roles & responsibilities of fire fighting team.
DESCRIPTION:

Roles:

 The work includes routine duties in the maintenance of fire fighting


vehicles, equipment & fire service facilities.
 A periodic review of the fire fighting team is carried out by an officer in
order to maintain & improve the efficiency of fire fighting.
 As a member of the shift/platoon, fire fighting team will:
 Respond to emergency situation by lay, connect hose and hold
nozzles, direct water stream, rise, climb ladders, use fire
extinguishers & other fire fighting equipment.
 Ventilate buildings to release heat, smoke & gases.
 Mobilise all the emergency resources in to action as per plan i.e.,
control the fire & stop the toxic release.
 Up to date onsite emergency plan/emergency preparedness.
 Ensure the adequate quantity of water for fire fighting.

Responsibilities:

 To participate in programs designed for the prevention of fires & saving


of life & property.
 Fire fighting team is responsible for rapidly, efficiently & safely
performing various duties under emergency conditions frequently
involving considerable hazard.
 To obtain an extensive knowledge of the operation of all apparatus,
equipment & methods used in combating, extinguishing & preventing
fires & in rescue work.
 To obtain an extensive knowledge of necessary actions for responses to
leaks & spills of hazardous materials.
 To obtain the knowledge of maintenance of service of service equipment
& facilities.
 To gain knowledge of building construction, wiring, hydraulics &
geography of the workplace.
 To gain mechanical aptitude.
 Ability & strength to perform prolonged & arduous work under adverse
conditions.
 Personal resilience & an ability to work effectively in challenging
situations.
 To encourage the most dedicated & other employee in control of
emergency.
 Co-ordinate further response actions with incident commander & local
responders.
 Eliminate potential ignition sources from the vulnerable areas.
 Immediate attending the scene of the reported emergency.
 Periodic checking on the effectiveness of emergency system &
equipment.

RESULT:
Thus the roles & responsibilities of fire fighting team was observed.
