Basic Productivity

This document outlines a kindergarten math lesson plan about shapes that incorporates technology. The lesson uses a PowerPoint to introduce shapes to students and have them correctly name circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. Students are then split into groups to create their own PowerPoint slides about additional shapes, including the name and number of sides. The groups present their presentations to the class. The teacher reflects that uploading the student presentations online would help reach a higher level of technology integration and allow families to see the work.

Lesson  idea  implementation:

The  teacher  will  begin  the  lesson  by  going  through  the  “Shapes!”  PowerPoint.  The  students  will  correctly
name  a  circle,  triangle,  square,  and  rectangle.  The  teacher  will  draw  each  of  these  shapes  on  an  anchor  chart
and  write  the  corresponding  names  under  each  of  them.  The  teacher  will  ask  what  other  shapes  do  the
students  know  and  lead  a  small  discussion.

After  the  discussion,  the  students  will  divide  into  groups  of  three.  Each  group  will  be  given  an  electronic
device  and  a  list  of  shapes  (up  to  ten  shapes).  The  students  will  be  told  to  create  their  own  PowerPoint  over
each  shape  on  the  list.  Each  shape  will  be  on  its  own  slide  and  will  need  the  name  of  the  shape  and  number  of
sides  it  has.  Students  will  present  the  presentations  to  the  class.

Reflective  Practice:

To  reach  a  LoTi  level  5,  the  teacher  can  upload  the  presentations  to  the  classroom  website  to  show  the
guardians  of  the  students  what  they  created  on  their  own.
