III.1 USING THE MEMORIES M1...M7

In memories M1...M7 there are written the conjectural length of lines and gaps:
LINE GAP
M1 0.50 0.50
M2 1.00 1.00
M3 2.00 2.00
M4 4.00 2.00
M5 2.00 4.00
M6 4.00 8.00
M7 10.00 10.00
-4-

This values can be changed with buttons and . The chan ges of values are saved
automatically, you don’t need to use the button SAVE. If the computer is set up to STOP, then
changes are input to that memory which control light is lighting continuosly. If the computer
is set to START LINE or START GAP, then the changes maybe input twofold:
a. In case that only one control light is lighting (continous light) then the changes are input
only to this memory and immediately result in leght of painted lines. The input of new
values is done in the moment of transition line-gap or gap-line.
b. In case that one control light is lighting continuously and the other control light is flashing,
than the changes are input to the memory where the control light is flashing. It enables to
transit fluently between memories during painting. The change of lenght of painted Lines
and gaps will be done after pushing START LINE, START GAP or one of the buttons
F1...F9, but in every case the final result is different. The below drawings are showing
this:

a) firstly the M2 (1m/1m) and F6 (P3-skip/P4-solid) was chosen, then the lengths were
changed in memory M3(2m/1m) and pressed the button START LINE:
P3
P4
moment of pressing
START LINE moment of starting work with new memory
Explanation: pressing START LINE can be done in any moment of cycle, beginning from the start
of line until end of gap. New lengths will be introduced after finishing “old” gap and from beginning of
new line. “Old” gap is the nearest gap after pressing the button START LINE. Pressing M3 may be in
any moment but before pressing START LINE.

b) as above but the button START GAP was pressed:

P3
P4
moment of pressing
START GAP moment of starting work with new memory
Explanation: pressing START GAP can be done in any moment of cycle beginning from the
beginning of gap to the end of line. New lengths will be input after finishing the “old” line and from
starting the “new” gap.

c) memory M2, function F6 and the work started from START LINE, then the F5 (P3-
solid/P4-skip) was pressed:
P4
P3
moment of pressing F5
moment of starting work with new function
Explanation: pressing F5 (or any other F1...F9) causes preparing to change of function. Switching
of the guns according to new function is made during the first change LINE_GAP or GAP_LINE. The
lengths of line and gap stays the same.
The same result will be when the work will start with START GAP.
-5-

d) memory M1, function F6 and the work was started from START GAP, then the M2
(1x1m) was pressed, in the third step the button F2 (P1-skip line) was pressed:

P3 P1
P4 moment of input new values from M2
moment of pressing M2
moment of pressing F2 moment of starting work with new function F2

P3 P1
P4

Explanation: the change of the working tips (from F6 to F2) is done during the closest change
LINE-GAP or GAP-LINE. If earlier the change of memory was prepared (from M1 to M2), then the
new lengths of lines and gaps are introduced after the end of cycle, according to with button is active:
START LINE or START GAP. That’s why in first case the first gap after changing F6 for F2 is short.
The appropriate length of line from M2, the computer will implement on the beginning of next cycle
which will begin from line.
If the change from F6 to F2 will be done during gap, then the result will be as shown on next drawing:
the closest change GAP-LINE is the beginning of new cycle, that’s why in that moment together are
changed the functions from F6 to F2 and the memory M1 to M2.

P1 P3 P1
P4

A B C D E F G H
To achieve the line like on the drawing, you should do:
A – during painting the line with the function F2 and memory M2, make sure that the START LINE is
active. If it is not active- press the button START LINE.
B – If you need to change the length of line, choose the correct memory (here M1).
C – During GAP, the last before the change of type of line, press the correct button of function (here
F6)
D – After end of GAP the computer will implement the new lengths of lines and new guns (F6 and M1)
E – During painting the one side skip and one side solid line, you should press the button START GAP.
Switching between the types START LINE to START GAP (and vice versa) during work does not
disturb the line under the condition that the change of memory M was not prepared in the meantime.
F –Make sure that the mode START GAP is active, you should (if it is needed) to prepare change of
memory (here again M2)
G – During painting LINE, the last one before change of kind of line, you should press the proper
button of function (here again F2)
H – After end of LINE the computer will accept new values of lengths of lines and new guns (here
again F2 and M1) beginning new cycle from long gap.

III.2 TURNING ON ADDITIONAL GUN

If during the work you will turn on the additional guns with the buttons P1..P5, to
work with skip line, then the proper gun will be activate during the closest change
GAP-LINE. However the gun set up to paint solid lines will be activate during the
closest change GAP-LINE or LINE-GAP. Switching off every gun is done during the
closest change GAP-LINE or LINE-GAP.

B – moment of actual activation of the gun P1 in the moment of starting painting the nearest
line.
C – moment of switching off the gun P1. Gun paints the whole last line.
D – moment of switching on the gun P1to solid line during painting. The gun starts to paint
from the closest change LINE-GAP.
E – moment of actual activation of the gun P1 to paint solid line.
F – moment of switching off the tip P1.
G – moment of actual closing of the gun P1.The gun stops paint during the closest change
GAP-LINE or LINE-GAP .

III.3 SPECIAL BUTTONS – CHOSING A KIND OF WORK

AUTO – the proper guns set to work with buttons F1...F9 or P1..P5 are periodically
opened and closed according to chosen lengths of lines and gaps. The
and of painting is after pressing the button STOP or after stopping the
machine.
ONE LINE – the guns set up to paint solid line starts painting immediately after
pressing the button START LINE or START GAP. The guns set up to
paint skip line paints one line or one gap + one line, depending of the
button pressed. Please look below:
P3
P4

A B C B B

A – moment of the first press START LINE. It opens all of the tips prepared to work. When
the line is finished the gun will be closed until the moment of next press of the button START
LINE. The set up lengths of gap doesn’t matter here.
B – moment of next press of the button START LINE opens immediately the guns set
up for skip line painting.
C – moment of the next press of the button START LINE during painting the line
causes reset of the counter od counting of the lengths from the beginning. It
causes lengthen of the line.
P3

A B C D E F B

A – moment of the first pressing button START GAP. It opens the guns set up to solid
line. For the guns set to paint skip line it begins to count the set length of guns.
Beginning of cycle.
B – after counting the set length of gap opens the guns to paint skip line and starts to
count the set length of line.
-7-

C – after counting the set length of line it closes the guns set to paint the skip line. End
of cycle.
D – moment of next pressing START GAP causes start counting of the set length of
gap. Beginning of new cycle.
E – moment of next press START GAP during the cycle causes reset of the counters
and counting from the beginning the length of gap.
F – the next press of START GAP during painting causes immediate closing of the
gun, reset of counter and beginning of counting from the beginning. The line is
shorten.

The starting of new cycle follow up only the pressing START LINE or START
GAP. Thanks to that keeping the button pressed does not cause lengthen of the line nor
gap.

MANUAL – all of the guns ready for work starts to paint in the moment of pressing
START LINE. The guns set to work with skip line will be closed in the
moment of releasing the button START LINE. The guns set to paint the
solid line will be opened until pressing STOP or until stopping of machine.
The set up lengths of lines and gaps don’t have any influence on the work
of guns, they have influence only on frequency of data updating.

A – moment of first pressing START LINE. Opens all prepared guns.

B – moment of releasing the button START LINE. It closes the guns set to paint the

III.4 FUNCTION „SQUARES”

The function will force to paint the skip line 1m line/ 1m gap. The function is written in
memory M2 and gun P2, the width 24cm. It can be activated only from joystick, with
black button. The pressing of the button causes immediate stop of painting line and
switching the memory for M2 and gun for P2 –skip line. The pattern begins from gap
1m.The button has to be all the time pressed. The releasing of the button causes
switching off the function squeres and transition to previous settings. The painting of
the previous pattern begins always from LINE.

Original pattern M4 = 2x1, F6 = P3 skip; P4 solid

AB C D
A) - moment of pressing the button SQUERES and beginning of new pattern while the
settings are: M2=1x1, F4=P2 skip
B) – the place of theoretical end of cycle consequent from memory settings M4
-8-

C) - moment of releasing the button SQUARES. Computer will end of cycle with gap 1m.
D) - moment of beginning painting pattern according to previous settings M4 and F6 in
mode AUTO, START_LINIA.

CAUTION:
If the button is released during painting LINE than in the moment of transition
LINE-GAP the computer will prepare the come back to the previous settings, that means:
- will switch the memory to M4, on the display there will be displayed 2.00 and 1.00
- will switch the guns from P2 to P3 and P4, the diodes under the buttons of the guns
will light.
- will switch the mode START_GAP (yellow diode) to START_LINE (green diode)
The above changes does not have any influence on the image of pattern, because the
opening of the guns P3 and P4 and the reset of the counters according to values M4 will
be done after counting the last gap 1m.

CAUTION:
This functions can be activated also from the mode ONE LINE and MANUAL.
Button SQUARES has bigger priority than the button START LINE, that’s why even
if the START LINE is pressed and in this time will be pressed button SQUARES , the
function will be done properly.
See also chapter IV CHANGES IN PROGRAM.

III.5 MEASUREMENT OF THICKNESS

THICKNESS – function of “measuring” thickness of the paint. The
“measurement” of the thickness loads the processor very much, that’s why during
“measurement” it is forbidden to press any keys. Otherwise the “measurement” is
stopped and the result is false. That’s why the measurement of thickness is made only
in mode AUTO. Additional condition is that the computer should not have switched
on the function PROGRAM. On the display there should be visible the lengths of lines
and gaps. You should take into consideration that the measurement counted on base of
the quantity of cycles of pump has big measuring error. The error is bigger if the lines
measured were shorter and the layer of paint is thinner. No matter what kind of pump
you use, the smallest quantity of paint for measurement is taken 0,1 dm3. If the pump
if bigger, then the result of measurement has also the pump error.

„Measurement” of thickness is done based on the calculation of the quantity of paint

with the accuracy of +/-0.1 dm3 and accuracy of length of painted line +0.0/-0.1m2.
The length of ROAD OF MEASUREMENT is specified by two parameters:
A) ROAD OF MEASUREMENT is taken here as 5m without possibility of change
B) The value of variable CE-4, define how many MEASUREMENT-SECTIONS must be
taken to the accountings ( range 1-10).
C) The total ROAD OF MEASUREMENT depends also from real settings of lengths LINE
and GAP and can be longer than real settings of lengths LINE and GAP and can be longer
than expected even than one of this value. It hasn’t got any bad influence on the result
because for accountance there are taken the real values of PAINT and LINE.

Aproximate values of errors show the below table:

-9-

Average theoretical CE4=1 CE4=2 CE4=3

paint usage dm3/m2 5m 10m 15 m

300µm Range of error -44% +100% -44% +21% -26% +18%
0,50 dm3/m2 Range of thickness 333 - 899µm 417 - 636 µm 444 - 588 µm
500µm Range of error -33% +60% -17% +27% -11% +18%
0,70 dm3/m2 Range of thickness 500 - 1000µm 583 - 818 µm 666 - 823 µm
700µm Range of error -28% +43% -17% +17% -5% +17%

DESCRIPTION TO THE TABLE

Supposing that the layer of paint on the road is ideally even on the surface of road and the
use of paint is 0,5 dm3/m2, then theoretical THICKNESS of line is 500µm.
If we will set to measurement ROAD OF MEASUREMENT = 10m (CE4=2,
MEASUREMENT-SECTION=5m) then the surface of paint is 10m x 0.12m = 1.2 m2, and
from this can be calculated the actual use of paint 0.5 dm3/m2 x 1.2 m2 = 0.6 dm3.
The computer calculates the paint with error ±0,1dm3 so it can calculate 0.5, 0.6 or 0.7 dm3.
The surface is counted with error =0,0/-0,1 dm2 so it can calculate 1.1 or 1.2 m2.
In extreme situations we can achieve the results:
(0.5 dm3)/(1.2m2) = 417µ µm and (0.7 dm3)/(1.1m2) = 636µµm
The relative error, taken to theoretical thickness 500µm is:
(417 – 500)/500*100% = -17% oraz (636 - 500)/500*100% = 27%

Measurement:
A) The measurement is done by one time press the button THICKNESS.
B) The counting of length of LINE and the PAINT use begins from the nearest change
GAP-LINE or LINE-GAP
C) The counting of length of lines is during the moments of change LINE-GAP or GAP-
LINE.
The totalizing of PAINT is done currently after every cycle of pump.
D) After painting Line of length ≥ MEASUREMENT SECTION (here 5m) on the left
display there is written: „Grub” and on the right display the result of the measurement
in micrometers.
E) The result of the measurement is updated after every cycle of pump ranked as the next
0,1 dm3 of paint and after every change LINE-GAP or GAP-LINE
F) After painting LINE of length of ≥ ROAD OF MEASUREMENT a sonic signal is
activated for 5 sec. and the computer stops to update the result of measurement. It is a
signal of finishing the measurement.
G) The result of measurement is visible on the displayer for the time about 5sec., and then
the values LINE and GAP are appearing according to set up memory M...
H) In the case of “measurement” during painting with the gun P2, the result should be
divided by 2.

III.6 THE REST OF SPECIAL BUTTONS

SAVE – it saves the changes. To save change you need to press the button twice.
The first pressing causes flashing the dots on the displayers. The next
pressing is a signal is confirmation of saving informations and has to be
done within the 2sec. after first pressing. Lack of the confirmation or
pressing of another button causes turn off the dots and exit from the
system.
SERWICE –it opens the choosen guns to flush them. It can be used only during
standstill of the machine. Firstly you have to choose the guns to flush with
the buttons P1...P5 (or F1...F9). Then twice press the button SERVICE.
The first pressing activates the sonic signal and flashing of dots. The
second pressing is the confirmation of the demand of flushing guns and the
second pressing has to be done no later than 2 sec. after the first press. The
pressing of any other key is switching off the serwis.
PROGRAM – it inputs the changes into configuration and to snapshot of variables
ROAD, LINE, PAINT, LINES. After pressing the button it can be read:
IP-1 – road driven from last press of START or STOP. This variable
makes sense only for AUTO job, because for job ONE LINE and
MANUAL every pressing of the key START makes it’s restart.
IP-2 – the road driven from switching of the computer.
IP-3 – the length of paintet lines from the moment of switching on the
computer.
This variable doesn’t allow for line width.
IP-4 – quantity of used paint from the moment of switching on the
computer.
IP-5 – quantity of painted lines from the moment of switching on the
computer.

VARIABLE RANGE/DESCR.
CE-1 –quantity of impulses/1m (for the road sensor). 10 – 120
CE-2 – the brighteness of displayers 1–7
CE-3 – what on displayers 0 – set up lenghts
1 – decreasing lenghts
2 – clock
CE-4 – lenghtof ROAD OF MEASUR. 1 – 10
CE-5 – signal of exceeding speed 0 – without signal
1 – flashing of displayers
2 – flashing + signal
CE-6 – lowest speed 5 – 99 hm/godz.
CE-7 – highest speed 5 – 99 hm/godz.
CE-8 – quantity of impulses/1l of paint 1 – 250
CE-9 – type of printout 0 – basic A
1 – memory B
2-50 – extended A
51-59 – chosen area A
- 12 -

CE-A – restoring the conjectural values 0 – no reaction

1 – restore

Variable CE-4 shows the multiple lengths of the MEASUREMENT SECTION=5m.

For variables CE-6 and CE-7 the figures shows the speed in hectometers per hour that
means in range 0.5 – 9.9 km/godz.
For the variable CE-8 you have to give the delivery of pump in cycles per 10 liters, that
means:
For pump type 4900 23,20 [cycles/litr] input 232
6900 14,53 „ 145
8900 10,58 „ 106
12000 10,52 „ 105

III.7 CLOCK
Directly after switching on the power an the displayers there will be showen in turn:
number of computer, program version, current date and time: LINE = month.day
GAP = hour.minutes.
After about 3 sec. the displayers will show the lengths of lines and gaps and gaps from the
mamory M1, conjectual 00.50 / 00.50.
The snapshot of the clock:
- press the button PROGRAM;
- on the left displayer set function CE-3
- on the right displayer set 2
- press the button PROGRAM – now the displayers show DATE and HOUR. The dots
flashing between 2 and 3 figure shows that the clock is working.
Pressing any of the buttons M1-M8 causes return to displaying length of line and gap.
Setting of the clocka:
After going into the snapshot of the clock you can set with the buttons and the
value of DATE and HOUR. Clock does not have a control of the correction of date, that’s
why you have to be careful, not to set up date like for ex. 30 February. During setting of the
clock it is blocked, that’s why the dots are not flashing. Updating of the clock and it’s start is
done after twice quick pressing of the button SAVE- the dots will start to flash.

III.8 PRINTOUTS
There is possibility of making 4 types of printouts using the functions CE-9, in the
way:
- connect the cable to computer and printer
- switch on the printer with the switch on the rear panel – on the front panel a control
light should light
- stop the work of computer with the switch STOP - important!!! The computer will
not make print out during painting
- press the key PROGRAM
-on the left displayer set the function CE-9
- on the right displayer set a figure from range 0-59
- press twice the button SAVE
A type of printout depends from the figure set on the right displayer:
- 0 - basic printout of memory A, from the last printed position to actual save. This
operation causes switching the pointer of the last printout on the place of actual save, that’s
- 13 -

why if the printout will be repeated, on the printout there will be only a headings and one (the
last) save.
-2 to 50 extended printout of memory A, it prints the input quantity of positions 2-50
ending on actual save.
- 51 to 59 prints the chosen extent of memory according to the below table. If in the
memory will be an empty line, then the last printed position will have all the
values equal 65535.

-1 - printout of memory B, in which the work is written separately for every kind
of line. In headings there are the conjectural values, it means:

F1=P1c – function no. 1 gun no 1, solid line

F2=P1p – function no. 2 gun no. 1, skip line
...
F5=P3c+P4p – function no 5 gun no 3 solid line + gun no 4, skip line
...
F9=P5p – function no. 9, gun no 5, skip line

M1=0,5x0,5 – memory M1, line 0,5m, gap 0,5m

...
M6=4x8 – memory M6, line 4m, gap 8m
M7=YYYY – non-standard values: 10m line, 10m gap, they coul be helpful when you want to
calibrate the road sensor.

EXAMPLE:
Before beginning of work was chosen the memory M2 (line 1.00 m/gap 1.00m) and function
F2 (gun no 1, skip line). The work was done on the length 100m so on the printout there will
be:
F2=P1p M2=1x1
ROAD: 0.100km
LINE: 0.050km (50x1m)
PAINT: 4.3dm3
LINES: 50
If you will change the length of lines with the buttons (line 1.50m / gap 0.50m) and
additionally with the button P5 the gun no. 5 will be switched on 5 for solid line, than the
printout will be (after driving 100m):
F2=P1p M2=1x1
ROAD: 0.100km
- 14 -

LINE: 0.175km (100m ci¹g³a + 50x1.50m przerywana)

PAINT: 8.2dm3
LINES: 50
The printout will include the real lengths of lines, number of lines and paint, but in connection
with the conjectural settings M1 i F2, without taking care about the line width. The user has to
control (save) the possible changes. Particullary, if instead of using button F2 he will set to
work the gun 1 for skip line with the button P1, than the headings will be:
Fx= ??? M1=0,5x0,5

That’s why the buttons P1..P5,have to be used carefully.

III.8.a INACCURACY IN MEMORY A AND B PRINTOUTS.

The processor in this computer can make calculations only in integers. That’s why a
small differences can appear in memories A and B. The calculations are made in that way that
the errors should be the smallest possible, but in some circuimstances (ex. Many times
changing of functions or memory, manual work) the errors can summarise. Even though they
shouldn’t be bigger than the 1m for the road measurement and 1dm3 for paint.
In case of appearing of such inaccuracies, it should be considered that the errors
appeared only in memory B.

III.8.b NOTES TO THE USE OF MEMORY B.

The memory B has a capacity of 430 savings. After making the 430 saving there is a
reseting of the counter and writing the data from position 1 again. It causes irreversible loss of
data. That’s why the printouts of the memory B should be done quite often. In case that the
quantity of savings in that memory will exeed 400, every next save will be signalized with the
beep signal. To estimate a use of this memory, for example during one working day, you shoul
read on the printout a time of making the accountings. It is also an information about the
number of made saves.
The printouts of memories A and B are numerated independly in range 1-50000.
Before making the printout of memory B you should be very carefull if the printer is switched
on and the paper is there, becase the printout will reset the memory. The maximum number of
positions (combinations M1-M8 / F1-F9) is 73, but in practice it will be much lower. The save
of data is done:
- in the moment of pushing any of the button F1-F9
- in the moment of pressing START LINE or START GAP
- in the moment of stopping the machine (button STOP, speed<0.3km/h or switching
off the power)
Every change of line pattern can lead to 1 up to 3 saves. It means that even work with one
function F and memory M, but with often standstills can use a lot of memory capacity.
During accountings based on printouts from the memory B, you should remember:
a. If the computer is set for STOP (doesn’t paint) but any of the function is activated
(light any of the keys P1...P5) to road driven on idle is sumarised with the last set
function F and memory M.
b. If after setting any of the function with the key F, the active gun will be changed by
buttons P1...P5 than the whole job will be summarized to the last choosen function F.
c. If after chosing any of the function with the key F we will cause the switching off all
of the guns with the keys P1..P5 and there will be theoretical change LINE-GAP or
GAP-LINE that the next data will be written to the virtual memory F0,which on the
printout is marked as Fx=???.
- 15 -

d. Computer counts every impuls from the sensors (road and pomp) from the moment of
switching on the power until the switching off the power exept the time when the
printout is made. It should be remembered also that the cycles made during flashing of
the guns are also summarized to last set function F and memory M. If you want that
impulses to be summarized to F0, than the easiest way is to switch off the computer
and switch it on immediately before flashing.

III.9 CALIBRATION OF ROAD SENSOR

To minimalise the errors during measuring road the most confortable is to set the
machine on the beginning of 10m section of road. And than:
a. Switch on computer.
b. SET MEMORY M7=10x10m.
c. In variable CE-1 set 100 imp/metr.
d. In variable CE-3 set 1 (decreasing lenghts).
e. Drive a section of 10m, possible the most accurate and without reverse !
f. Read a figure from the displayer (this is the result in km), deduct this number from
1000, the result divide by 10.
g. The integer write to the variable CE-1.

EXAMPLE:
After the 10m length we have on the displayer a figure: 0,75.
Deduct 1000 – 75 = 925
Divide 925/10 = 92.5
To the variable CE-1 write 92.
During driving the section of 10m you should not switch LINE-GAP or GAP-LINE.

III.10 PRINTER CONFIGURATION

To the computer can be connected any serial printer 12V DC in standard RS232C,
with any ofd set of symbols.
Very important is proper settings of parameters:
- speed =9600
- bit number =8
- even control =none
- end of line =CR
