Oral Communication Final

This document discusses the "frozen" speech style, which is one of five language registers. It is the most formal style and is used in respectful situations or formal ceremonies. Language in the frozen style rarely or never changes - it is fixed and learned through repetition. Examples include wedding vows, the Pledge of Allegiance, prayers, laws, and Shakespeare's plays. The frozen style uses long, grammatically correct sentences and complex vocabulary. It invites interpretation but does not allow questioning from listeners or readers.
