Being an AB – English student has been challenging for me. Because I have no idea what
was the course is. Worse is, I don’t know what is Applied Linguistics means. But as the time
goes by I learned what was that means and how it will work. Upon going through different
subjects I have learned the Applied Linguistics.

I have learned so many things everytime I go to school. But sometimes because of the
pressure of the subjects or classes we, the students wanted to quit and give up. But we never
did. Thus we strive harder to reach our goals. We are all aiming to finish the course by hook or
by crook. L2 has played a very importanty role in our society; may it be economically or
personally.

As applied linguist we have the ability to help the teachers on how to help also their
students. We are to gather the data on how to use the language properly and be able to
identify ways to help improve the situation. Teachers may confide to us about the problems
their students are facing about the language concern.

Anyone can study linguistics and applied linguistics. It is not necessary to know a
language other than English, or to be good at learning languages, to do well in linguistics and
applied linguistics. The field offers rigorous intellectual training which stands one in good stead,
wherever clear, independent, and creative thinking is valued.

Linguistics majors are therefore well equipped for a variety of graduate-level and
professional programs and careers. Some may require additional training or skills, but not all
do. Applied Linguistics is the application of linguistics theories and findings in order to sole the
language problem.

Language element serves as one of the backbone of applied linguistics. In simple means,
those should be present for it to be counted in.
