c) Ending (Giant Human Geoboard)



Item Description Timing
Expanding our • Teacher will demonstate with a small group of students the next 10 mins

• One person will be the “shape creator” and every other person in the
group will represent a pin on a geoboard. Students will need to stand
with their feet together. Shape creator will move student’s bodies
and place a rope around their ankles to create a shape. The goal of
the shape creator is to place his “pins” or classmates in such a way
that when the rope is placed around their ankles it creates a shape.
• Teacher will go over concept of corners and that each persons leg will
represent a corner. Ex: to effectively create a square you are going to
need 4 pins or people spread out in a square shape.
• Each child will get a turn to be the shape creator. They may ask for
help if they wish but other group members are instructed to respect
their mathematical thinking by not offering advice unless asked.
• Each child has about 3 minuets to create a shape and at the end his
team mates need to guess what the shape is.
• Rotate and repeat.
• Dismiss for recess
