Chapter 7: Electricity and Magnetism

This document describes an experiment to measure current and voltage using an ammeter, voltmeter, dry cells, wires, switches, and light bulbs. The experiment involves connecting circuits in two ways, first to measure current using an ammeter and varying the number of dry cells, then to measure voltage using a voltmeter and varying the dry cells. Observations of the ammeter, voltmeter, and bulb brightness are recorded for each trial. The document does not include the results or conclusions from the experiment.

Chapter 7: Electricity and Magnetism

Activity 7.6 (pg 149)

Aim: To measure the current and voltage by using a suitable measuring apparatus
Apparatus: Ammeter, voltmeter, connecting wire, switch, dry cell, crocodiles clip, bulb and
dry cell holder
A. Measuring current using an ammeter
Procedure:

Diagram 7.5
1. The circuit is connected as in Diagram 7.5 using one dry cell.
2. When the switch is on, the reading on the ammeter is recorded.
3. Steps 1 and 2 are repeated using two dry cells.

B. Measuring voltage using a voltmeter

Procedure:

Diagram 7.6
1. The circuit is connected as in Diagram 7.6 using one dry cell.
2. When the switch is closed, the reading on the voltmeter is recorded.
3. Steps 1 and 2 are repeated using two dry cells.
