Sarcoma

Fibrosarcomas are malignant tumors that develop from fibrocyte cells in connective tissues like muscles. There are several subtypes of fibrosarcomas including malignant fibrous histiocytomas and myxosarcomas. Soft tissue sarcomas can develop anywhere in the body and may present as painless lumps. Diagnosis involves biopsy and microscopic examination of tissues. Treatment typically involves surgical removal of the tumor along with a margin of healthy tissue when possible. Without treatment, soft tissue sarcomas can metastasize and cause illness.
