Technology integration in learning has been shown to improve standardised test scores, develop inventive thinking, and increase student motivation and self-concept. Studies have found gains in verbal and nonverbal skills as well as improved problem solving and conceptual skills. However, barriers to technology integration remain. While over 40% of teachers use technology for classroom instruction and computer applications, only 20% or less assign other technology-based activities. Common barriers include lack of resources, knowledge and skills, institutional support, and time for preparation. Effective technology integration prepares students for the 21st century and supports differentiated learning and engagement.
