FOR PROJECT NH 353 C SAKOLI TO BHANDARA IN
STATE OF MAHARASHTRA.

SPT ‘N’ value observed = 100
Depth of footing (D) = 1.5 mt.
Corrected N for dialatancy =15+1/2(100 -15)(From clause no 3.6.2 of IS 2131- 1981)
= 57.5
Width of footing (B) = 3.0
Settlement for 1 kg/cm 2 load from fig. 9 of IS 8009 Part I
Assumed Water table below foundation level d=0 B=2.5 =d/B =0.0/2.5=0
(Adopted water table correction W ’ = 0.5)
= 0.0045 m
= 4.5 mm
= 9 mm (After applying W’)
Permissible settlement = 50 mm. (As per IS 1904 -1986 clause 16.3.4 Table 1)
Therefore allowable Bearing Pressure = Permissible Settlement / Settlement
as per Fig 9
= 50/9
= 5.55 kg/cm 2 = 55.5 T/m 2
