Lesson Plan: Stage / Time Activity Procedure

Objectives : By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to :

- At the end of the lesson students will learn how to use prepositions of time correctly. -
Extract specific information from the text.
They will be able to talk about their daily routine in a general way, and will become familiar with some phrases related
to people’s daily life.

Stage / Time Activity Procedure


Warm-up Greeting -T greets Ss:” Good morning”
5 min -T. asks: “How are you doing?”/ ‘’fine thanks”
Pre-reading -T. elicits the family members.
15 min Eliciting -T. draws the family tree on the BB.
-T. explains the words “Male” and “Female”
-T. asks the Ss : “ Who are the males in the family?” Ss: “brother , father ,son”
“ who are the females in the family?” Ss :” mother , sister…”
Understanding -T. asks the Ss Qs like :
checking - “who is your father’s brother?” -“Who is you mother’s father? …….
Pre-teach Voc.
- Occupation, Marital status,
Guessing -T. asks the students to predict what the text will be about
T : “what do you think the text will be about?”

While-reading Skimming -T. asks the students to read the text (p:19)quickly and check their predictions.
20 min -T. instructs Ss to read the text another time to do exercise “A”.
A- Read the text and answer these questions.
Scanning 1- How many people are in Mariam’s family?
and extracting 2- What is Mariam’s mother like?
information 3- Who is Mariam’s niece?

- T. instructs Ss to do True/False exercise “B”.


B- Are these sentences True or False ? Justify.
True/False 1- Yacine is a teacher of English.
2- Jihane is 5 years old.
3- Aicha is a doctor.

- T. instructs Ss to do True/False exercise “C”.

C- Find in the text the opposite of:


- Lazy #................. – Married#..............................

Organizing D- complete the chart with the appropriate information (P:19)

Post-reading -T. asks the Ss to work in pairs and practice short conversations using the chart.
10min Speaking -T. says : “ use the information in the chart to ask about Mariam’s family”
Example : - “How old is Mariam’s father?” - He is sixty years old
-“what’s Mariam’s brother name? – His name is Yassine.
End of the session - T asks Ss to correct their answers.

Homework Fill out the same chart with your personal information.
