The Buzan Study Skills Handbook

Pub Date: 10 January 2007 ▪ Price: £12.99
"Tony Buzan didn't invent the brain [but] he did invent the instructions."
- John Husbands, MD, Institute of Management

In a Nutshell
The Buzan Study Skills Handbook delivers Tony Buzan’s powerful learning techniques
to students – offering a complete programme to help them excel at their studies.

Every student has the potential to achieve everything they aspire to. They just need
the right tools.
In our learning institutions we are filled with knowledge on every subject under the
sun. However, there is a big hole in our learning. Very few of us are ever taught how
to learn.
The traditional way of teaching may help some students pass exams. But imagine if
every student were given powerful techniques to maximise their knowledge intake
and recall ability. Then they wouldn’t just excel at passing exams, they would have a
set of tools to help them be high achievers throughout life.
Tony Buzan, the world’s leading guru on memory and brain power, is the pioneer of
these techniques. He has worked with governments around the world from China to
Scotland, introducing the Buzan Organisation Study Technique or BOST®, which is
based on his work, combined with state-of-the-art information on learning.
Honed from 35 years’ experience, BOST® has been specifically developed for
students from GCSE to undergraduate. It reveals the secrets of advanced brain and
memory skills, which will enable them to learn better and faster.
These techniques, which have already helped thousands of students worldwide, are
now available in Tony Buzan’s new book, The Buzan Study Skills Handbook. Students
who use this book will, quite simply, be more successful than students who don’t.
They will:
• Develop efficient and powerful new study skills.
• Learn about how their brains work, how to superpower their memory and how
to speed read.
• Gain note taking skills that will save 90% of their time when taking notes and
90% when reviewing.
• Learn mind mapping and be able to apply this powerful, creative tool to
every aspect of study, including how to enhance exam-taking skills.
• Be able to memorize an entire book or chapter on a single page. The art of
Précis at its best.
The Buzan Study Skills Handbook opens a door on knowledge and makes studying a
personal, interactive, continually changing and stimulating experience. Most
importantly it will arm every student with the tools they need to gain, remember and
recall the knowledge with which they will ace any exam, test and indeed life. This is a
completely new and positive way to learn, and it works for every individual.

About Tony Buzan
The twenty-first century has been called the century of the brain. At the forefront of
this is Tony Buzan, the world’s leading authority on memory who, The Times predicted,
would: “… do for the brain what Stephen Hawking did for the universe."

As a young boy Buzan was assured by his teachers that he couldn’t improve his
(already above average) reading speed. That made no sense to him. Surely if he
could improve his physical fitness through exercise, he could do the same for his
mental agility.

As we now know, he was more than right. The quest for maximising the potential of
his mind has led to the development of the world’s most powerful learning tools.
These tools have, over the last 35 years, enabled millions of adults and children
throughout the world to maximize their mental ability.

Buzan believes we have: “entered an extremely invigorating time of discovery and

cerebral awakening.” His mission is to unlock the power of our brains, showing us
how to tap into and use our creative genius with ease.

To help him achieve this he has written a number of bestselling books (sold in over
100 countries and translated into 30 languages), as well as appearing on TV and
Radio shows for the BBC, ITV and numerous satellite channels.

He knows that, old or young, everyone has the potential to be a memory champion.
It’s just a matter of understanding how the mind works and having some fun giving
your brain a workout to achieve maximum performance.

With BBC Active he has published the Mind Set Series, comprising Use Your Head, The
Speed Reading Book, The Mind Map Book, Use your Memory, Master Your Memory
and The Illustrated Mind Map Book. These together form the cornerstones of Buzan’s
techniques. For time-starved people he has distilled his best known techniques into
the three smart little books of the Buzan Bites series: Mind Mapping, Brilliant Memory
and Speed Reading.

Tony Buzan will be giving a presentation on how mind mapping can maximise a
child’s learning capabilities on 11th January 2007 at The Eyrie Conference Centre,
Bedford. If you would like to attend please contact Elie Ball on 07803 392 710.
