Manufacturing Report

The document outlines the objectives and introduction to CNC milling as a non-traditional machining process. The objectives are to create a simple NC program for CNC milling, produce a product using CNC milling, gain knowledge about CNC milling principles, understand differences in CNC coding, and discover benefits of CNC milling compared to traditional machining. The introduction explains that non-traditional machining provides more variety and flexibility than traditional machining for complex designs and hard materials. Numerical control programs are used to automate CNC milling by providing instructions to the machine tool via a computer file interpreted from CAD/CAM design programs.

0 Title : CNC Milling (Non-Traditional Machining)

2.0 Objectives

 To create a simple NC program for CNC Milling

 To produce product using CNC Milling
 To gain more knowledge about CNC Milling principle
 To understand the different in CNC Milling coding
 To discover the benefits of CNC Milling other than equipment

3.0 Introduction

Non-traditional manufacturing processes are different with traditional manufacturing;

this is because Non-Traditional Machining provides more variety and contains larger
scope of machining. This give more advantage than traditional machining in terms of cost
and time when it comes to fabricate more complicated design. Besides, traditional
machining weakness is to work with material that hard and brittle.
Numerical Control is the programme that been used for Non-Traditional Machining.
Numerical Control also known as NC Programme is used widely in machine tools. NC
Programme is a programme automation that uses number, letter and symbol to control the
programme. This will give set of instruction to the machine so that in can be transferred
to the product itself.

In modern CNC Machining, CAD or CAM are used widely to design and
manufacture. This programme will produce a computer file that will be interpreted to get
the command needed so that the machine can operate as needed. As different product
needed different cutting tools, the modern machine combine different tools as single unit.
