0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION OF VARIATION ODER / CHANGES ORDER

It is common to use the terms changes and changes order interchangeably on many project.
This is unfortunated in that a comtempled changes is quiet differents from a changes that has
been specifically ordered by the owner.

1.2 CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS.

Construction volume consists primarily of new construction with the remaining portions
beings devoted either to maintenance and repair or renovation and remodeling.

1.3 VARIATION ORDER OF COST PROJECT.

1.5 TYPES OF CHANGE ORDERS/ VARIATION ORDERS

1.5.1 Change in scope.

The owner ,either because of special conditions or change in his requirements, elects to
change the scope of the contract.

1.5.2 Change in materials, method, or equipment.

the change order process covers changes in materials such as paint quality, roofing materials,
or even major items such as structural material. Usually, these changes are for the
convenience of the contractor, and may result in a credit to the owner.

1.5.3 Changing conditions.

The contractor may encounter a change in conditions due strikes, weather, or subsurfaces
conditions not previously determined.

1.5.4 Changes due to omissions in the contract.

Particularly in contracts where several contractors are working on the same site, each with a
prime contract to the owner and therefore no cross-contractual commitments the individual
contractors may through their interpretation of the limitation of their contract, and certain
work may go uncovered.
