1. INTRODUCTION

LGBTQ is the more commonly used term in the community; possibly because it
is more user friendly! You may also hear the terms “Queer Community” or “Rainbow
Community” used to describe LGBTQ2+ people. This initialism and the various terms
are always evolving.
LGBT, or GLBT, is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender. In use since the 1990s, the term is an adaptation of the initialism LGB,
which was used to replace the term gay in refference to the LGBT community beginning
in the mid-to-late 1980s. At a time when lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT)
individuals are an increasingly open, acknowledged, and visible part of society,
clinicians and researchers are faced with incomplete information about the health status
of this community. Although a modest body of knowledge on LGBT health has been
developed over the last two decades, much remains to be explored. What is currently
known about LGBT health? Where do gaps in the research in this area exist? What are
the priorities for a research agenda to address these gaps? This report aims to answer
these questions.
The phrase “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community” refers to a
broad coalition of groups that are diverse with respect to gender, sexual orientation,
race/ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. Thus, while this report focuses on the
community that is encapsulated by the acronym LGBT, the committee wishes to
highlight the importance of recognizing that the various populations represented by “L,”
“G,” “B,” and “T” are distinct groups, each with its own special health-related concerns
and needs. The committee believes it is essential to emphasize these differences at the
outset of this report because in some contemporary scientific discourse, and in the
popular media, these groups are routinely treated as a single population under umbrella
terms such as LGBT.
5

As the population of the said group continuously arising, they been recognized
not only in the society where they live in but also in the whole world where their LGBT
groups. As a proof of the said recognition, we the researchers observe that LGBT is
being accept as a common people with equal right in the community, specially in
NORSU MAIN CAMPUS where we done our said research. Negros Oriental State
University Main Campus, recognizes the LGBT COMMUNITY since they don't
discriminate the gender of every students. The schools are open for any gender as they
believe that it was the right thing to do in individuals who aim success in their life,
without depriving their ability base on their gender. To give more details about this study
we will discuss the following : The Current Situation, History of the Problem, Inherent
Problem, Objectives, Proposed Solutions, Evaluations, The Best Alternative, and the
Recommendation. Thus from every information of it we will be able to understand and
know the details more with regard to this study.

1.1 THE CURRENT SITUATION

The current situation OF LGBTQ community here in Negros Oriental State
University is growing rapidly since the Negros Oriental State University is open for all
kinds of gender.
LGBTQ in Negros Oriental State University were given all out support from the
Department Head and all Staff. Negros Oriental State University give the LGBTQ to
express what they feel and let them create a society for LGBTQ.
The LGBTQ community was able to build there personality.

1.2 HISTORY OF THE PROBLEMS

6

The LGBTQ community in Negros Oriental State University was criticize because
some of the students judge them as they are one of the parasites. LGBTQ community
was bullied they were underestimated by the people around.

We come up to this problem because we want to know the PROBLEMS

AFFECTING THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY IN NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY
and also we want to know there feelings and sides of being one of the LGBTQ.

1.3 INHERENT PROBLEMS

As we study the EFFECT OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY IN NEGROS
ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY these are the common problem that the LGBTQ
community in Negros Oriental State University are facing :

 Bullied
 Criticize
 Discrimination
 Parents Approval

2. OBJECTIVES

This study aim to know THE PROBLEMS AFFECTING THE LGBTQ

COMMUNITY IN NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY and how we can help
them on the current situation that they are handling right now. This study will help them
improve there society and also for other students to be guided on how they will interact
or socialize with LGBT members/community.
This are the following problem of LGBTQ that we gathered :

 .Bullied
 Criticize
 Discrimination
7

 Parents Approval

3. PROPOSE SOLUTIONS
The researchers found out that to be able to solved/lessen the common problem
of LGBTQ community in Negros Oriental State University is to have the following:

 Having seminars
 LGBTQ Showcasing of beauty and talent competition
 Forum
 Parental Establishment of Gender Role

4. EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVES

We the researchers have come up with this idea of identifying the most
8

commonly observe PROBLEMS AFFECTING LGBTQ COMMUNITY IN

NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY. We the researchers proposed 4 solution of
the 4 common effects of the LGBTQ.

 Bullied - this is a very crucial issue not only in LGBTQ community but also for the all
of us. To overcome this situation we must attend seminars since the NORSU has
seminars bout bullying. We must be familiarize about the law of being bullied.
 Criticize- also this is a one of the crucial issue that not only LGBTQ is experiencing .
We recommend to have a competition to showcase the beauty , brain and talent of
the LGBTQ members. So that the other people will be enlightened that LGBTQ is
part of the society nowadays.
 Discrimination- also a very crucial issue that we are all facing and not only the
LGBTQ. We must have/attend a forum about discrimination or read articles about
discrimination.
 Parents Approval- also a very crucial issue to the LGBTQ community members. We
proposed that let your parents know your true identity it maybe hard for them to
accept you easily but it is one step of letting your self out .

To explain it further we have tables for clarification and detailed information for
the common problems affecting LGBTQ.
9

4.1 OPTION A

Having Seminars/Orientation about LGBTQ and Bullying

As a college students of Negros Oriental State University, we already attended one of

the seminars about the LGBTQ community and about bullying. As we listen to the
speakers we learned that LGBTQ has good effects in the community and we learn the
effects of being bullied and how to overcome to it. Seminars help us to know more
about our identity and limitations since in every action we take it has results so since
LGBTQ members/community has feeling we must act responsibly and just spread love.

4.2 OPTION B

LGBTQ Showcasing of beauty and talent competition

We as a student of NORSU already witnessed that there are programs or competition

that are the participants are LGBTQ members. They showed what they got and what
they have. To have this kind of event is an eye opener to everyone that LGBTQ have
talents and brain.

4.3 OPTION C
Forums
When we say forums it is a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a
particular issue can be exchanged. When we have forums all of the LGBTQ members
10

will attend so that they can express there feelings ,suggestions and ideas. They also
have good views and opinions for us to know what they want and also they will know
what we want. Since it is a forum it is exchanged of ideas and views.

4.4 OPTION D
Let your Parents Know

This is one of the hardest and painful solution but it will set you free. It is a hard decision
to tell your parents what is your true identity because some of the parents is strict.
Lucky for those who have parents that is open minded but for those strict parents its si
difficult. But letting your parents know what you really want it will make you feel more
comfortable , it maybe hard for them to accept but later on time will come they will
accept you for who you are. Parents is always a parents .

5. THE BEST ALTERNATIVE

Let Your Parents Know
We the researchers conclude that letting your parents know is the best alternative way
that we can use in addressing the THE PROBLEMS AFFECTING THE LGBTQ
COMMUNITY IN NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY.Its a difficult solution but it
is more effective to solve the issue that the LGBTQ is having. Since if you have your
family on your back it is more easier to solved other problems like bullying,
discrimination and criticism.

6. RECOMMENDATION
Let Your Parents Know
We as a group of this research highly recommend to the LGBTQ community who has
encounter the sort of problems that you just let your parents know it first than others will
11

tell them. Let your self out on your family they will accept you for who you are. They
love you. In this proposed solution, we researchers assured that it will make you feel
better and it will solved the other issues.
