1.

Account Inspector enables you to interactively perform ad hoc inquiries on your

financial balances. You can easily move dimensions between row, column and
page edges to obtain different views of your data, thus supporting interactive
analysis.

a. Drag the Account dimension from the page edge and insert it on the
column edge below the Accounting Period dimension.

Hint: Left-click and hold the Account label then drag it (while holding) towards
the pivot table.
Release it once
you see a thick
blue line below
the Accounting Period dimension.

b. Drag the Cost_Center dimension

from the page edge and insert it on
the row edge to the left of the
Company dimension.

Hint: Left-click and hold the

Cost_Center label then drag it (while holding) towards the pivot table. Release it
once you see a thick blue line to the left of the Company dimension.

c. Swap the Company and Account dimensions. This will move the Company
dimension to the columns, and the Account dimension to the rows.

Hint: Hover over the mouse above the

company value 3100, so you get a box
that reads Company. Left-click and hold
that box then drag it (while holding)
towards the columns. Release it once
the account value 53450 gets
highlighted. This will swap the two dimensions.

d. Drag the Accounting Period dimension (by clicking and holding the
Accounting Period box to the left of Sep-09) from the column edge and
drop it anywhere on the page edge (i.e. the right-hand side box that reads
“Page Level Dimensions”).
e. On the page edge, change the accounting period from Sep-09 to Aug-09,
and click the Submit button to instantly refresh your data.

2. Perform a series of in-table expansions to get a more detailed output on specific

segment values. All the data manipulation in Account Inspector is practically
instantaneous because the balances are pre-aggregated at each parent level in
the account hierarchy.
