Нome Assignment 2

1. A catalytic hydrodealkylation of toluene experiment was conducted. The effectiveness of the reaction was evaluated by determining conversion of toluene, yield of benzene from reacted toluene, and selectivity based on a material balance. 2. In an alkylation of benzene with propylene, the composition of the resulting mixture was determined to be 35.0% benzene, 33.4% isopropylbenzene, 22.8% diisopropylbenzene, and 8.8% triisopropylbenzene. Conversion of benzene, yield, and selectivity of the process for isopropylbenzene were calculated. 3. A material

Home assignment №2

1. In the laboratory, catalytic hydrodealkylation of toluene was carried out. Evaluate

the effectiveness of the reaction (determine the conversion of toluene, the yield of
benzene to the missed toluene and selectivity), based on the material balance of the
experiment: the volume of the toluene passed is 60 cm3 (-0.876 g / ml), the mass of
the obtained gas is 3.84 g, the catalyst is 47, 1 g (including benzene - 14.6 g, toluene
- 31.8 g, xylenes - 0.7 g), toluene loss was 2% by weight. Give the reaction equation
and indicate the composition of the gases formed during the experiment.

2. In the alkylation of benzene with propylene, the resulting map lysate composition,
% (wt): -35,0 benzene; isopropyl — 33.4; diisopropylbenzene — 22,8;
triisopropylbenzene at 8.8.
Calculate the conversion of benzene, yield and selectivity of the process by
isopropylbenzene.

3. To make the material balance of the oxidation process of isopropylbenzene (IPB)

in a column-type reactor.
Baseline: capacity of the phenol 90000 tons/year; the expenditure ratio
isopropylbenzol for 1 ton of phenol of 1.5; content, % (mass.): hydroxide isopropyl
(GPIB) in the oxidation of SiGe -3; breakdown products in the oxidation charge —
0,3; GPIB in the reaction mass oxidation— 20; decay products in the reaction mass
oxidation — 1,5; the degree of use of air oxygen 0.75; temperature on the top plate
120 oC; the number of hours of operation of the installation and the year 7920;
pressure in the oxidation column 0.3 MPa.
