National Hill View Public School Biology Project Report: Apparatus Used

National Hill View Public School Biology project report aimed to compare the effects of natural manure and chemical fertilizers on plant growth. Two pots were filled with soil, one mixed with natural manure and one with chemical fertilizers. Pea seeds were planted in each pot. Observations over time found that on day 5, the plant grown with chemical fertilizers was taller, showing it grew faster than the plant grown with natural manure.

Biology project report

Aim : To distinguish between the effects of natural manure and chemical fertilizers on plant growth .
Apparatus used :
2 pots of same size , soil ( without any fertilizers . Heavy loamy soil ) , chemical fertilizer, natural
manure , water , seeds of pea plant .
Introduction :
A chemical fertilizer is defined as any inorganic material of wholly or partially synthetic origin that
is added to soil to sustain plant growth. Organic fertilizers are substances that are derived from
the remains or byproducts of natural organisms which contain the essential nutrients for plant
growth
Methodology :
1. Two pots of the same size were taken and filled half with loamy / heavy soil . 2. One was marked A
with the help of stickers . In this pot which was marked A , 1 cup ( 16 table
spoons ) of natural fertilizer or manure was added and mixed thoroughly. 3. The same amount of
chemical fertilizer was added in the second pot and mixed thoroughly. 4. 5 seeds of garden pea ( green
and wrinkled ) were added to each of the 2 pots . 5. A little more soil was added on top of the seeds . 6.
The two pots were watered and placed in a semi shady and sunny spot . 7. Take pictures and observe the
plant growth every 3 days .
Pictures:
day 1

Day 5 :
Pot A ( manure ). Pot with chemical fertilizer

Observation :
Day 1 : The seeds have been sown and plants have been watered .
Day 3 : Germination of seed is taking place . Shoot has not been formed .
Day 5 : It is observed that the shoot in the pot A is shorter than that in the other pot . Therefore , the plant
is growing faster with the help of the chemical fertilizer.
