NARRATIVE REPORT
JANUARY 20, 2017

THE 5’S PRINCIPLES

Before the program officially started, Mr. Jefferson Dimayugo made some announcements
regarding the upcoming activities for the month of February which includes the Foundation Day, Punta
Talents, Battle of the Bands, Proms Night, and Mr. and Ms. Punta 2017.
The SLAC session began with a prayer led by Mr. Rico A. Herrero, Senior High School Math
teacher. After a mind relaxing reflection, the minds were activated by the energizer prepared by Mr.
Jewelson Santos, Grade 9 MAPEH teacher. To get acquainted with the resource speaker, Ms. Joyce
Fabra, the Senior High School Coordinator, introduced the speaker.
Ms. Arlene M. Garcia, Social Science Master Teacher III and Senior High School GAS Adviser,
launched the topic, 5’S Principles. At the beginning of the seminar, Mrs. Garcia gave a collaborative
activity on setting up a classroom. In this activity, the teachers shared their opinions on how to set up a
classroom. While some teachers shared from their experience in class management, others gave their
rationale in setting up a classroom. Mrs. Garcia discussed the 5’S Principles which originate from the
Japanese practices. The idea behind the 5’s Principles and the reason why every organizational
institution adopts this kind of practice is the idea that a good quality of work lies on conducive
environment.
The session ended by Mrs. Susana Alcantara, Head Teacher I, with a challenge for everyone
that they can apply the 5’S Principles in their classroom management. Ms. Cathleen D. Osabel served
as the master of ceremony for the said program.
