Section Plan

In the case of the upper figure, we shall check the level of Top and the level of Bottom.
When the duct size is 1000mm width and if there is no level difference of a duct 2000mm or
more, it is possible to connect by 90 deg elbow.

The direction of arrow of Down and Up must be the same as direction of air stream.
Because of the direction of an arrow of Exhaust Air and Intake Air are opposite/reverse, we have
to check the direction carefully.

Note
In case the level of a duct will be changed, we shall draw the section before layout plan.

2. Air Duct Size Selection

In case the duct size is not mention on the MBS design, we shall apply our selection table as below. In case there is the duct size not only

mentioned on the plan but also it is smaller than our selection, we shall follow MBS design.

To prevent from self-generated noise by poor air flow conditions, the following duct velocities criteria shall be
followed:

We shall try to cancel sub-branch because we have to try to reduce the area of air duct.
Therefore we shall connect the Flex duct from Branch duct directly as below figure.
Moreover, we shall apply flex duct for Casino & Retail area as much as possible.
An example of duct size is as follows.

SPL-07/11-NDA-198\/conversion/tmp/scratch/405102559.doc Page 3 of 32
Note
Since, MBS’s duct size selection is wrong sometimes, we shall NOT trust MBS design
and our design checking is the must. However, in case duct size is mention on MBS
design and then duct size is smaller than our selection, we still can follow MBS design.
Moreover, we shall indicate the size of duct and air volume on our shop drawing
properly.

4. Air Duct Branches

In case provide branch duct from main duct, we shall design the branches as follows.

We shall provide 45 deg Tee at the branch.

Since the size of A is too short on the standard of
MBS, we shall apply our Shinryo standard as below
table.

Shinryo
Branch Duct Standard
Width (mm) A (mm)
up to 200 100
up to 300 150
up to 400 200
up to 600 300
over 600 300

In case provide the branch duct,

we shall design 50mm up from BL of main duct,
since 50mm clearance is required to install branch
duct.

We shall try not to design over 1100mm branch duct.

Because the coil of a duct is 1200mm width only.

Note
We have to remember BL of main duct and BL of branch duct are NOT same level in
generally.

5. Water Pipe Branches

In generally, we shall provide properly “Enlargement” and 2.5B straight duct.

The pressure loss of (b) and (e) is 4 times as (a).

SPL-07/11-NDA-198\/conversion/tmp/scratch/405102559.doc Page 20 of 32
Moreover, we shall consider about the direction of discharge and duct layout.

Don’t connect like (e) and (f). AHU connection is also same thing.

17. VAV Arrangement

We shall provide 4D straight duct at suction side to avoid turbulence and carry out TnC easily.
If not possible to provide straight duct, we shall consider to provide vanes at elbow.

Moreover, we shall arrange AP or cat walk near VAV for TnC.

If it is difficult to provide AP due to design matter, we shall arrangement several VAV near one of
AP.

Note
We shall consider VAV layout for TnC. Because if there is no straight duct at suction
side, the control of VAV will be difficult.

18. Water Pipe Arrangement

We shall arrange the pipe layout NOT to be cross over (Especially main pipes).

Note
Don’t reverse between supply and return pipe on shop drawing because we must avoid
misconnection in construction stage.

SPL-07/11-NDA-198\/conversion/tmp/scratch/405102559.doc Page 22 of 32
19. External Louver Arrangement

We shall connect air duct to plenum chamber at external louver.

And then we shall provide the slope at bottom of plenum chamber and provide AP.

Design face velocity of Louver shall be 3m/s for supply and 4m/s for exhaust. (assume Opening
ration 35%)
(In parcel5 sepc, opening ration of louver is 60%. We have to confirm with consultant about this
issue.)

In case 2 nos. of air duct connected to 1 plenum chamber, we shall provide CD or partition inside
plenum. Moreover, we shall provide bird grille inside plenum chamber according to our spec.

Note
We shall consider rain -water will not come inside duct.

SPL-07/11-NDA-198\/conversion/tmp/scratch/405102559.doc Page 23 of 32
20. Isolation Valve and Air vent Arrangement

We shall provide isolation valve at each main branch. Moreover, in case pipe will be pass through
another floor, we shall provide isolation valve as well.

Don’t make up-down layout. If there is nothing, we shall provide air vent Not Auto air vent.

Note
Isolation valve and air vent is big item for TnC work. We shall consider TnC work well
on shop drawing.
