and within this section/chapter. This information applies to all service activities related to
the system and all delivered system components. The safety information provided in this
document (and those listed above) must be adhered to.
The installation, service and maintenance of equipment described herein is to be per-
formed by qualified personnel who are employed by Siemens or one of its affiliates, or
who are otherwise authorized by Siemens or one of its affiliates to provide such services.

High voltage
• Hazardous voltage levels may be present ( 565 V DC ) at the following parts even if the
system is switched off:
- DCC - Power D450
- Slip rings
- Carbon brushes
- Generator electronics
- Connect the stationary and rotating parts of the gantry with a protective conductor pri-
or to working in the gantry.
Automatic procedures
Radiation protection
• Observe the following protective measures when working on the CT unit with radiation
"ON":
- use a radiation shield
- maintain a safe distance from the source, the farther the better
- use the minimum dose, smallest slice-thickness
- remove the phantom ( if possible ).

actual function description of the corresponding system.
HV_Drop Explanation 0
The actual high tension (P_UTact and N_UTact ) is monitored by the board D400. If either
positive, negative or both are arcing (high tension breakdown greater than 30 kV) the
D400 will send the HV_drop signal. In this case, the main inverter will be stopped and
restarted within 2 ms to prevent a high tension error.
Example: If during a 120 kV exposure, the 60 kV negative voltage side would "drop", the
60 KV positive voltage side would try to compensate the voltage and try to raise to 120
kV. If the positive side were allowed to rise to 120 kV, a safety scan abort would be per-
formed when the HT reaches 82 kV.
NOTE The HV_drop is recorded in the tube history but the HV_drop alone
CANNOT be used to evaluate tube performance.
The HV_drop is transmitted to the MAR. The MAR will mark the
readings in which the HV_drop was active to allow the IRS to inter-
polate these readings.
Also the firmware counts the number of HV_drops within 300 ms.
If there are to many HV_drops within 300 ms, an error is generated.
The oscillogram shows the generation of the HV_drop signal. The key point is where
HV_drop is active for 1.25 msec, the high voltage drops and is restored, allowing the scan
to continue without errors.

Important Signals 0
The following oscillograms of signals represent key test points for the XRS. They contain
a description of the test point along with suggestions for evaluating the waveforms. Where
applicable, the scan parameters are recorded.

General 0
The timeout-test is used to check the automatic supervision of the total radiation duration
in the customer modes TOPO, SEQUENCE and SPIRAL. A longer radiation duration than
given by the rated value of the loaded mode is attempted. The scan has to be canceled
after 110% of the rated value and the scanner has to switch to state ABORT.
For modes TOPO and SEQUENCE, all selectable scantimes can be checked. For mode
SPIRAL, a rotation time and three different lengths of spiral ("min", "medium" and "max")
can be selected.
Procedure 0
General 0
RAC01 tests the rotating anode. The user can select a rotation frequency of 60Hz or
150Hz. When the test is finished, the measured values for the rotation anode are dis-
played.
Example:
IRAC last acceleration 26A, IRAC actual 6A
(retrieved from table T50)
Procedure 0
General 0
This test checks the function of the filament current regulator with standby and exposure
heating (7000 mA). No radiation is released during this test procedure. When the scan is
finished, the measured value for the filament current is displayed.
Example: Filament current of last FiL01 Test Scan: 6997mA (retrieved from table T5E)
Scope example:

Procedure 0
General 0
The test HVC01 checks the high tension path without tube current and without rotation. To
isolate a high tension fault to either the tube or HV tank, the test plugs (16 21 791) must
be used. When the scan is finished, the measured values are displayed.
Example:
Results of last HVC01 Test Scan: UT_act:130.000KV, IT_act: 0 mA
(retrieved from table T5E)
NOTICE The HVC01 test should not be performed with the tube connected,
because this can lead to misdiagnosis of failures.
Before replacing the Tube, try gettering to reestablish stable oper-
ation!

Procedure 0
This test is similar to the HCV01 test with the exception of rotation. Therefore small
testplugs have to be used.
General 0
The Single Pulse test allows to separate a fault between the Inverter (Electronic Box) and
the HV_Tank, by triggering the inverters for a Single Pulse.
Please use an oscilloscope to measure the output of the single pulse test. Both the nega-
tive and the positive pulse should be evaluated.

actual function description of the corresponding system.
Disc Test 0
General 0
The disc test checks the data transfer from the transmitter to the receiver and the image
processing. The "syntetic" disc raw data are stored in the transmitter and in the receiver.
For trouble shooting, the data source of the disc raw data can be selected
Procedure 0
Example: Disc-Image
Offset Image 0
General 0
With the offset image, the image relevance of artefacts due to electronic, electro-mechan-
ical and data transmission defects can be seen.
Procedure 0
Example: Offset-Image
Analyze function 0
Example:
Region Selection:
• select Row/Reading: All
• select Column/Channel: All
• select detectorLine: 1
Only for Emotion Duo select:
either detectorLine: 1 or detectorLine: 2 (don’t select both)
Recommendation:
Perform first the calculation of the Mean and Standard Deviation of the detectorLine 1,
then repeat the complete procedure with detectorLine 2.
• select Go Message: "Region selection has been performed!" appears
(Emotion Duo: For the second detector line, repeat the procedure (Preparing of the raw
data file for Analyze / p. 25)
NOTE To get the list of the mean values select: List / Dec / Go).
NOTE To get the list of the standard deviation values select: List / Dec /
Go).
