Time
2 hours
Content
After attending the lesson, our 5th grade students will demonstrate their understanding of the
course by roleplaying as a sick person or a caring friend recommending what to do or not to do in
the presence of an illness with 90% accuracy.
Instructional Materials & Media [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and
Materials)]
- A pinch of Grammar Translation Method to introduce them with should/had better, as this requires
no big effort on the part of the learners. (They will be easily taught to use should/had better right
after the subject)
- Cooperative learning is applied here where students are given pictures related to the new
vocabulary items and expected to role play in pairs
- Audiolingual method pioneered by the teacher is used in the roleplaying section of the lesson
since the learners change their recommendations depending on the health conditions of their
friends. By sticking to the should/shouldn’t structure, what they are expected to do here is applying
whichever is expected.
Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner
Participation)]
This final week will be mostly student centered, so the lesson will be performed by the students,
under the supervision of the teacher, during the practice session.
Summary
This lesson will be interactive part of the unit plan where the students will engage with their peers
for the first time, and is perhaps the most important part of the unit.
Write the measurement and evaluation methods you will employ in that lesson.
The teacher observes the learners while they perform their role playing. During his/her involvement
in the pairs, the students will understand the rationale behind their performance based on teacher’s
correction of them.

electricity cut, the teacher will hang the pictures from animato and the visuals on the board.
A short instruction given by the teacher about the use of should/had better on the board. Later they
will engage in practicing them. The students could be expected to participate in the lesson by
