TLT5606 Projects

This document provides instructions for a computer simulation project on topics related to spread spectrum techniques. Students must select a journal article, implement the algorithms in MATLAB, verify the simulation results, and write a report explaining the topic, simulated methods, and results. The deadline is May 31, 2011. Successful completion is worth 2 credit points. Students should inform the instructor of their selected topic by the end of March. The document lists 11 potential topics related to code acquisition and interference suppression techniques.

TLT5606 Spread Spectrum Techniques – Spring 2011

Computer Simulation Project: Topics and Instructions

1 Instructions
• Carry out an individual simulation study of a system or an algorithm
related to the lectures.

• After selecting a journal article, you have to understand the material and
write your own MATLAB-program to implement and test the algorithms
presented in the paper.

• Verify the simulation results appearing in the paper (plus even create your
own test scenarios)

• Show a substantial effort in your project.

• Write a (self-explanatory) report in which you explain (i ) background of

the studied topic shortly, (ii ) describe the simulated method(s), and (iii )
show the simulation results with short conclusions.

• Return the report and the matlab codes by email ([email protected])

• Dead-line: May 31st, 2011

• Successful work equals 2 cp. In addition, maximum of 6 points can be

earned and added to your exam result. (An exam must be passed without
extra points.)

• If you decide to do the project work, inform the topic you select (by email,
[email protected]) by end of March.

2 Topics
Select one topic from the list below. Notice that topics 2. and 5. have two
optional articles. Select only one of them. Topic 9., in turn, consists of two
mandatory articles.
You can download all IEEE articles from http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/ pro-
vided that you use university’s network (physically or through VPN tunnel).
Use search facilities in the web page to locate the articles.
