Thomas International Management Systems: PPA Report Self Image Graph III
PPA Report
The individual has a great deal of work energy, is quick-paced and enjoys variety
and change in terms of both people and tasks. He is not by nature aggressive and
will attempt to avoid situations which require him to discipline others or to make
harsh or unpopular decisions. He will attempt to dissipate or defuse antagonistic
situations by the use of charm, the smile and appeals to reasonableness.
The individual can be a little over-eager to please and will always attempt to
generate rapport with others quickly. He is rarely vindictive and will not
knowingly antagonize others. There is a tendency for him to become anxious in
social situations which may show itself in talkativeness. He may, at times, be
seen as a perfectionist and rather picky and may irritate less detailed individuals.
Self Motivation
The main function of the role should be that of presenting a product, idea or
concept to others. There should be an opportunity for him to influence and
persuade others to his point of view via the use of technical and/or specialist
information. The job should, where possible, allow for continual variety in terms
of both tasks and individuals. There should be little or no need for him to
discipline or make harsh or unpopular decisions on a regular basis. In deed, the
emphasis should be on winning other people’s willing acceptance of, and positive
reaction to, any product, concept or idea he puts forward.
Describing Words
He will most likely emphasize his systematic and logical approach and therefore
appear even more compliant than the self-image suggests.
The individual’s dominance and compliance levels become equal when under
pressure and he may be perceived as slow in decision-making. This should be
assessed as it may not only lead to indecision, but could also inhibit the
individual’s ability to meet the performance requirements of his present or future
position.
Under pressure, the individual modifies his behaviour as compared with the self-
image, becoming less systematic and logical, and taking up a more firm, perhaps
even stubborn stance, in order to win his way. He may be seen as more strong-
willed and independent than the self-image indicates, and perhaps less accurate.
It would appear, when under much pressure, that the individual is, or has recently
been forcing himself to be something that he is naturally not. This could be an
indication of excess workload, and/or stressful decision-making responsibilities.
It is important to monitor the situation closely.
General Comments
Stress
There are no stresses showing within the individual’s profile which leads us to
believe that he feels he can cope with the behavioural characteristics required
within the job.
Motivators
As we have not been given a Human Job Analysis for this post, it has not been
possible to make a detailed assessment of the individual’s strengths and
weaknesses against the specific job requirement. Furthermore, please remember
the above document is a guide only; the Personal Profile Analysis does not take
into account intellect, education, experience, seniority, qualifications, product,
industry or market exposure. It is a work orie nted inventory and must be utilized
together with all other available evaluation procedures and techniques.
