1. DINOSAUR MONTAGE DURATION: Three lessons


Students will-
- Look at pictures of dinosaurs and plastic dinosaur toys and discuss
their characteristics
- Select a dinosaur that they would like to draw
- Use oil pastels to draw the animal and watercolours to paint it.
- Learn how to create text in bubble writing and then write ( with
teacher assistance) ‘dinosaur’ and use either warm or cool colours to
fill it in.
- In collaboration with the class write a short sentence about a dinosaur
then repeat that text in another section of the artwork
- Use edicol dyes in warm and cool colours to sponge the back ground
of each section.
- Talk about their dinosaur and the characteristics of other dinosaurs in
the class

2. PLASTICENE DINOSAUR DURATION: Three lessons


Students will-
- Look again closely at the dinosaur figures and discuss how they might
make the figure in varying media
- Talk about colour ,size and detail
- Have a small amount of ‘ play ‘ time with coloured plasticine to
familiarise themselves with the media
- Use the plasticine and a range of tools to create a dinosaur form
- Detail the sculpture with different colours
- Set the figure in the natural world eg. rock platform, bush. And have it
photographed
- Exhibition of the works will be in photo- digital form only

3. IMAGINARY ANIMALS DURATION: Three lessons


Students will-
- discuss the images they may have in their imagination of imaginary
dragons ie. Scales, fire breathing, long tail and spikes

- assist the teacher in drawing a dinosaur that has all the characteristics
discussed
- recognise that the animal is pure fantasy and they can put in any
features they like and that nothing is wrong
- use black oil pastel on large scale paper to draw the figure
- work in acrylic paint to fill in colour and background
- when dry rework the details to show scales, blood, teeth etc.
- Look at each others work and comment on the similarities and
differences
- Discuss ‘imaginary’ and ‘real’
