GENERAL INFORMATION AND MANUAL GENERAL INFORMAT|ON This “Grain Loading Stability Booklet” for M.V. "KARPATY” is prepared in accordance with the International Grain Code (IMO Res. MSC, 23 (59) ) The Master shall be guided by the instructions and arrangements in the Grain Loading Document. The Grain Loading Document is to be placed on board the vessel and, if so required, it will be produced for inspection by the appropriated authorities at port of loading. All necessary and reasonable trimming shal! be performed to minimize the effect of grain shifting. In any ” filled compartment, trimmed “, the bulk grain shall be trimmed so as to fill all the spaces under the decks and hatch covers to the maximum extent possible. After loading, all free grain surfaces in ” partly filled compartments ” shall be trimmed level and the ship shall be upright when proceeding to sea. INTACT STABILITY REQUIREMENTS The Intact stebility characteristics of any carrying bulk grain shall be shown to meet, throughout the voyage, at least the following criteria after taking into account the heel ing moment due to grain shift. The angie of heel due to the shift of grain shall be not greater than 12 degrees or deck edge immersed angle, whichever is less. In the statical stability diagram, the net or residual area between the heeling arm curve and righting arm curve up to the angle of heel of maximum difference between the ordinates of the two curves, or 40 degrees or the angle of flooding (6 ¢) , whichever is the least, shall in all conditions of loading be not less than 0.075 meter radians. The initial metacentric height, after correction for the free surface effects of liquids in tanks, shall be not less than 0.30 meters. Grain Loading calculation in this booklet are performed at the stowage factor of 41, 42, 45, 55, and 65 cub. ft/Lt respectively for departure and arrival condition.
