Finishing Up Unit 3 & Moving onto Unit 4!
Firstly a couple important notices:
• This week P.E. will move from Day 2 to Day 3 due to secondary examinations.
Therefore, it will be on two consecutive days. As students will be dancing and being
Winter, they can just leave their P.E. clothes at school on Day 3 to use again on the
following day.
• Grades and comments will be available to parents on Thursday 7th February.
• Discovery Week information and permission forms will be given to students this
week.

In class this week we will be finishing our Art projects, publishing of poems and unit
reflections. Later in the week we will introduce our 4th Unit of Inquiry, ‘Where We Are
In Place and Time,’ with the central idea being, ‘The Earth's physical geography has
an impact on human interactions and settlements.’

Home Learning Project: This task has a big geography and history focus and students
will require a lot of help from home to complete this accurately.

As the home learning project for our new Unit of Inquiry, I would like students to make
a Family Tree. There are many different family structures, therefore, a template cannot
be given for this task. It is best to leave open for each family to create and shape their
own family tree. Secondly, I would like identify on a map where members of their
family have settled now and in the past. It would be helpful for students to also know
why members of their family settled in certain locations.

I would prefer that students take the time to work with their families to investigate and
learn about their Family Tree rather than rushing it. The due date is Monday 11th
February but this is flexible.Your support with all home projects is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Miss Katrina.
