Mesa Software Manual

This document provides instructions for using MESA software to design a field layout and generate survey shots. It describes how to [1] define an exclusion zone and import boundary coordinates, [2] set layout parameters like bin size and spacings, [3] import receiver and source coordinates, [4] load a binout file to generate remaining shots, and [5] output an SPS file containing unfired source locations. The final section notes that MESSA does not recognize the SPS format from another program, so the SPS must be run through OMNI first to generate a compatible binin file for MESSA.

GENERATING BININ USING MESSA

1. MESSA doesn’t recognize the SPS format from spspreplotgen4. Therefore, input the SPS
from spspreplotgen4 into OMNI. Then output the SPS.
2. Call in the SPS using MESSA.
3. Output your sps from MESSA. Compare this with the any old binin format. This will
enable you delete the un-necessary columns.
4. Binin is ready without the need of going through the stress of OMNI WORKSHOP!
