Forces and Motion 3
Forces and Motion 3
I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. identify the uniformly accelerated motions (UMP) qualitatively and
quantitatively;
b. describe the horizontal and vertical motions of projectile; and
c. investigate the relationship between the projection angle and the height and
range of projectile
C. Resources:
B. Lesson Proper
1. Engage – Anticipatory Set
- The class will be divided into four (4) groups.
- Each group will determine the acceleration of a rolling object by
recording the time to travel different distances on and inclined plane.
Student 1 holds the timing device and accurately starts and stops the
timing device (stopwatch or cellphone with stopwatch application).
Student 2 records the time in the table provided for the activity.
Student 3,4,5 releases the thin can in each marked position.
Procedure:
First, set up an inclined plane by putting one end of the plane on top of a
stark of books. Mark the plane for every 40 cm and label these as 40 cm,
80cm, 120cm, and soon, starting from the lowest end.
Second, measure the base and the height and calculate the angle of
inclination. Use the formula, Ɵ=tan¯1 (height/base).
Third roll the tin can from each labeled point starting with the 40cm mark.
Start the timer as the time as the tin can is released, and stop the timer
when the tin can has reached the bottom of the inclined plane.
Ask your group mate to record the time (t) taken by the tin can to travel
each distance (d) down the plane. Perform three trials from each mark.
Use the table below for your data.
Graph dx vs. t and then d vs. t²
2. Zed is playing with a ball on top of the building but the ball fell and hits the
ground after 2.6s, what is the final velocity of the ball just before it hits the
group and how high is the building?
II. ASSIGNMENT
- In a ½ sheet of paper, compare and contrast mass and weight.
