tary! Remember it’s the only one-stop report available on the web, sent to your FB inbox every Monday morning!

The league issued a memo and then a reminder to all teams this week starting
Wednesday that any player with a “hard hit” involving helmet to helmet contact
would be fined or suspended depending on the severity of the hit. You could tell
that some players were more restrained in their play this week, but I don’t know if
affected the play of any of the games dramatically.

Brett Favre is still under the microscope, and the stress of the season and his age is
starting to show more and more each game. I wonder if he can really hang on for
the next ten weeks or so. He threw three interceptions against his former team, the
Packers.. bringing his total for the first seven weeks of the season to 10, 3 more
than his total for all of last season and 1/3 of his biggest total for a season, 29 in
2005. His last minute comebacks that we are all so familiar with get a little harder
every week. Reports say that Favre has admitted to the rather promiscuous voice-
mails left with the female former Jets employee, but that he denies the picture mes-
sages. Brett Favre has been playing football since I’ve been old enough to watch it,
and I worry that his last year will go down in flames.

Looking at the standings so far, it appears that there is much more talent and/or or-
ganization on the AFC side of the league this year. 5 teams with 5 wins, no teams
with just one win, but still the Bills are winless at 0-6. The NFC has one team, the
Atlanta Falcons with 5 wins, and no teams winless, but four teams with only 1 win.

I feel very badly for Broncos fans, and yes I, like many other NFL analysts, believe
the Dolphins were robbed.

The New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas tomorrow night. This
game is critical for both teams, but most importantly the Cowboys, as they are very
close to the point of no return for their season if they can’t win. The Giants could
stand to go 4-3 without any major ill effects, but a solid performance from Eli Man-
ning would be welcomed by fans and teammates alike.
Don’t forget to check for your full Monday Night Recap bright and early Tues-
day morning!

Until next week, J.R.
