Back to Our Classrooms!

Last week the students worked collaboratively in small groups to make simple
displays from Discovery Week. They reflected on their experiences; identifying what
they enjoyed, learned and made connections with the Learner Profiles. Their reflective
pieces will be on display in the common areas during the Discovery Week Expo. This
activity stimulated a lot of positive talk amongst the children. They were all very proud
of themselves and supportive of their peers.

This week, we will work towards finishing up our current Unit of Inquiry about
settlements. Students will be required to identify a site on a map where they would
choose to settle, describe the location and explain their reasons for and against
various site locations. On our class Weebly page, there are many interesting links
connected to this Unit of Inquiry: https://ksi34.weebly.com/web-links.html

Later this week, we will begin to tune into our 5th Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet.
The central idea for this unit is, ‘Distribution of wealth affects communities and
individuals' access to equal opportunities.’

Kind regards, Miss Katrina.
