NYSSMA Level II Vocal Sight-Reading

Mr. Baur Commack Road Elementary School

A few things to remember:


 Do will be either C, F, or G.
 Almost always, the example will begin on Do.
 The exercise will either be between Do and La OR Low Ti and So.
 Most notes will move step-wise. The only skips will be going Do-Mi-So and it
will only go up.
 The only types of notes will be quarter (q) and half (h) notes.

 The only type of rest will be a quarter rest (Q).


 You may see either or

The examples I am giving you here sometimes go from Low Ti up to La. This is just
for extra practice. It never hurts to be able to do more than you will be asked to at
NYSSMA!
