Board Failure detection:
Continuous on line diagnostics
Heartbeat is sent to SC every 10ms
Board state, including information needed for seamless
switchover.
Switchover may be initiated by VoP board, SC or EMS.
Upon switchover:
The redundant board is updated with the failed board state.
PSTN interfaces are switched over the backplane to
redundant board.
The redundant board assumes the IP address of the failed board
Switchover control busses and logic circuitry are duplicated to
avoid erroneous switchover.
