Overview
The DrillSIM range of conventional drilling and well control simulators developed
and manufactured by Drilling Systems are advanced training solutions designed
to meet the training requirements of Operators, Drilling Contractors, Service
Companies, Training Schools and University Petroleum Engineering Schools in
both onshore and offshore operational environments.

Applicable to entry level or advanced engineering skills training, DrillSIM can be

used to instruct individuals or complete drill crews, as well as for internationally
recognised well control certification. The DrillSIM-5000 full-size simulator is
ideal for training personnel in equipment operation and advanced drilling and
well control engineering techniques, while the portable versions provide cost-
efficient alternatives, where
training budgets or facilities
are limited.

Scope of Simulation
The same mathematical model is used across the DrillSIM range, therefore the
scope of simulation is the same for each. Simulator exercises (snapshots) can be

DrillSIM-5000 Full Size Rig Floor
The DrillSIM-5000 comes equipped with a
range of simulated consoles, equipment
and manifolds closely resembling those
found on a drilling rig floor. Typically,
the consoles are manufactured using
the same controls and instrumentation
as used in operating field consoles.
Within the simulation environment,
realism is further enhanced by the use of
electronically generated sound effects,
which are fully synchronised, with the
various operational activities of the
simulator. The simulator is supplied in
the base package, with optional extras
depending on the training needs.

The DrillSIM-500 is a five panel simulator with each panel measuring 540mm x 540mm.

DrillSIM-50 Mini-Portable
The DrillSIM-50 is a four panel system with each panel measuring 400mm x 300mm. The simulator has been designed
with the roving instructor in mind and is suitable for airline check-in. Workover is available via the Student Station.

DrillSIM-5 PC based software

The DrillSIM-5 can be used to instruct individuals for entry level or advanced engineering skills training. The DrillSIM-
5 offers the full software simulation capability of the rig
floor simulator with its primary focus being on well control
training. It provides instructors with the opportunity
to conduct training where time on portable or full size
simulators is restricted.
